Oh Calamity

Ryder's p.o.v: Ezra drives me, Finny and Flynn to a little coffee/ Ice cream shop. i'm so glad Laurie and Jeff are helping with Finny and Flynn. Flynn is a little shit and Finny thinks he's smarter than i am. we get to the shop and Flynn flies out of the car but Ezra stops him by picking him up
"Hey little dude. you need to wait for Ryder" Ezra tells him
"No i don't" Flynn replies
"Fine then Flynnie. No ice cream" i tell him and he goes all wide eyed
"No! I want Ice Cream!" he screams at the top of his lungs
"Hey Control Your kid" some lady says rudely and it breaks my heart. Finny and Flynn call me daddy sometimes. but they have the right to. I've been raising them. not that witch of a mother Karen.
"Flynn Jason Eckes! you stop that now or we will go home. no t.v., Netflix, game systems or anything. just straight to your room!" i say sternly and he hides behind his twin
"You best be scared you little wanker. Karen and Laurie may put up with your shit but i don't. got that" i snap at him
"I got that daddy" he sniffles
"Now lets get ice cream." i say and they grab my hands and we all walk in. the boys ask if they can go play on the indoor play set and i say yes and we order then go sit at the tables in the play area
"so Ryder. why do they live with you?" Ezra asks.
"Because my mother isn't the best person. they asked me if i would take them in once i turned eighteen. they didn't put me in a foster home but they put Finny and Flynn in one a year ago. and i said yes. but Laurie and Jeff are helping me. they offered me to stay there but i wanted my own place." i tell him
"they call you daddy. i'm guessing your mother was absent. right?" he says then takes a drink of his cappuccino
"Yeah. Karen got into drugs when i was little. she cleaned up for a bit. for about two years. one was when she was pregnant then a bit after Finny and Flynn where born. i know i'm kinda hard on them but Laurie spoiled them and my mom just didn't care. my dad. who i lived with before he got back with my mom then died. i was raised in Sheffield hence the accent and he took care of me. then four years ago we moved back. well I've told you some about my life now its your turn" I say and he laughs
"My family. ok well mom is dead and for the longest time my brothers hated me cause I'm like the boy version of her. now they hate me for a different reason. my ex best friend's mom married my dad and had twins. and we found out my dad cheated when my second oldest brother was born and when i was born, with the same lady. that's pretty much it. what about any past boyfriends and or girlfriends" he asks and does that odd eyebrow thing and i laugh
"none. i don't tend to mingle. what about you. any past relationships?" i tell him and he has a pained look again. is he going to get mad?
"you don't have to tell me" i tell him and grab his hand and rub it with my thumb but he pulls away and he has tears in his eyes
"Alix used to do that" he tells me and he has his eyes closed tight with tears falling
"Alix was my boyfriend. we dated about three months. i know short but it was true love. he had cancer and he passed away in his sleep. and i was there. it was terrible" he cries and i hug him
"why don't we go watch a movie at my house and eat popcorn. we can watch Hetalia or something. they installed WIFI today and i bought Netflix." i offer and smile and he sniffles and chuckles with a wonderful smile as he wipes away his tears
"sure" he says and i get the boys and we drive to my house. he makes me happy. i barely know him but i think i'm starting to like him
