North Star

I heard voices downstairs and smiled at myself in the mirror. I quickly finished my makeup and checked my outfit. I had achieved my goal of looking cute while still being comfortable in a light blue A-line dress which matched my eyes, a cream colored cap sleeve sweater, and cream flats. My make up was light and pretty. I slipped a light blue bow into my hair to keep my golden waves from falling into my face.

"Avery Elizabeth," my brother's voice carried his annoyance up the stairs and I laughed. I grabbed my purse and hurried down to the living room. All of the boys were gathered, obviously waiting for me. Spencer's back was turned so I ran down the stairs and jumped on him. He spun quickly and caught me midair, he kept spinning and I giggled.

"Keep dreaming little girl," he mocked me. "You ain't never taking me down." He set me gently on my feet.

"Whatever," I said, rolling my eyes. "I'm going to get you eventually."

"Yeah, okay," Ben said sarcastically. I stuck my tongue out as the boys laughed.

"Come on guys, let's go," Eric ordered. Spencer leaned down and whispered into my ear.

"You're brother is so bossy." His breath tickled my ear. "Must be tough living here with him in charge." I shook my head. My brother and I may tease each other a lot and he was tough on me but I was thankful to be living with him.

"Come on kids, get in the car before we end up being late," Ben said, linking his arm with Eric's. I smiled at my brother in law and headed out the front door holding hands with Spencer.

It was a gorgeous day outside. I felt the sunshine on my skin, Spencer's fingers intertwined with mine, and a gentle breeze coming off the ocean which was hidden from side. My life had been difficult in the past but lately I had been feeling very blessed.
