Don't Forget

“I’m Pregnant.” Aftermath

How had she gone from the strong pregnant warrior woman to sniveling mess with in minutes? Fucking Connor… The tears slowly came to a stop, but the sobs still haunted her breath making it shudder, “You can let me go now.”

“If I let you go will you run away?”

Is that what I was doing?

“No,” Mia said.

“OK then,”Connor said pulling away slowly. He cupped her cheeks and then kissed her softly then he leaned his forehead against her, “That was a really fucked up way to tell me something like that.” He said.

“Can you blame me?” Mia said meeting his icy-blues. He took her hand and led her back to the bed and laid her down so that he could snuggle up behind her. She still had a shoes on.

“You were so quick to leave.” He said.

“I was afraid…” Mia admitted, “I already made up my mind. You’re the only one who could change my mind.”

“Apparently not,” Connor said, “I keep telling you, you have more agency than you give yourself credit. This was a great example.” He held her waist tighter to him, “I was so sure you were going to leave. I don’t think I've ever been so scared in my life.” Mia’s heart attempted to escape her chest. Connor Butler? Scared? “I know that’s probably hard for you to believe.”

“I’m still pregnant.” Mia said. She turned to face him.

“God, I’m not completely fucktarded, Mia I heard you the first two times.”

“This is supposed to be the part where you run screaming for the hills.” Mia said. She bit her lip to keep the tears from starting again. Connor used his thumb to set her bottom lip free and kissed her again.

“How else was I supposed to react?”

“Get mad, yell at me, leave…”

“You just listed all the things you just did…”Connor said, “God these hormones are something else you’re fucking crazy.”

“That doesn't really make me want to stay Connor.”

“You act like you want to know how I feel and as soon as I tell you, you get mad at me.” Is that what’s happening? “You tell me that’s not bat-shit.”

As usual Connor confused her. “I’m sorry?” Mia offered for peace.

Connor snorted, “It’s cool I’m used to it.” He heaved a huge sigh and they were quiet for a bit. The calm after the storm. Mia was so comfortable she almost fell asleep before Connor spoke again, “I’m not going to lie to you. I’m not ready for kids”-

“It’s just one.” Mia interrupted.

“Can I finish?” Connor said glaring at her. Mia pouted closing her mouth again, “If my only two options are to endure a stinky mess bag or live without you then I guess I’ll have to accept the stinky mess bag.”

“It’s the way you say things.” Mia said, “The child will only be stinky mess bag for a few years before it becomes it’s own little person bopping around doing it’s own thing.”

“A few years of my life, that I can never get back.”

“Oh please.” My rolled her eyes.

“We’re never going to agree on this.” Connor said, “But I do love you and the thought of losing you really is unbearable. How about you keep Wonder Boy around for Stinky and I’ll just have and love you?”

“We still don’t know how Wonder Boy is going to react to all this.” Mia said.

“Ha-ha I made you say it.”

“What?”

“You called Eric Wonder Boy.” Connor was ecstatic.

“Connor focus.” Mia said playfully slapping him.

“I’m sure he’ll be all smiles and support.” Connor reassured her, “He’ll be juiced to have a little Junior Wonder Boy to help him fight crimes.”

“God Connor shut-up!” Mia said. She wanted to sound scolding but she couldn’t stop smiling.
