Rise of the Guardian

Daniel Miller

Ariel kept searching for a vessel; he saw Raphael once during his search but was told to move on. It took a year to find a suitable vessel, but the lion finally found one. Ariel couldn't help the fact that children could see him. For his vessel, Ariel chose Daniel Miller; a righteous man that had good faith of God.
It was a normal night for the man, his wife was asleep, and there was nothing to do so Daniel read. He looked up when the TV turned on. He got up and tried to turn it off but it didn't work. Then the radio started going nuts, turning on by itself and channel surfing. Daniel starts to freak out and the ringing started. The last thing Daniel remembered was a deafening tone and passing out. When he woke, he was in bed. Thinking it was a dream he got up and heard a soft ringing. His wife was downstairs and he asked her what it was. "Hear what?" She asked.
Daniel shook his head. "Never mind" He listened closer and heard a voice overcome the ringing; it was a deeper voice, a strong one but not threatening. His wife shook her head and left for work. Later that day, Daniel's wife came home to find him with his hand in the fire of the fire place. She screamed and dropped her things but he calmed her down. "It's ok, it’s ok. He asked me to do it"
"WHO!?" his wife cried.
"Ariel, he's an angel. He asked me to do it to prove my faith" Daniel pulled out his hand. "See? I'm ok. It's amazing!"
His wife just stared at him in shock and worry. "Ariel?" She asked, pronouncing it wrong.
"No, No" Daniel corrected her. "He's an angel. The Lion of God."
A few more weeks passed and Ariel kept speaking with Daniel; he had to have Daniel's consent to use him as a vessel. The man's wife began to think he was nuts and ordered pills for him but Daniel shook his head. "I'm not crazy. We believe in god, and in angels. How crazy is it that one can talk to me?"
The woman shook her head. "I... I just. If you don't see a doctor I'm leaving by Monday."
Daniel lowered his head and sighed. He prayed asking for his wife to be watched over if he agreed. Ariel made the promise and Daniel accepted the angel.

"So now what?"
"We keep looking" Kami shrugged.
"UH! Dam this thing is hard to find!" Jackson yelled.
"Maybe it doesn't want to be found" Kami said. "Last night was the second time we heard that ringing."
"Ringing? Really? You’re scared of that now?" Jason asked.
"Shut up Tank" Kami pouted.
A knock came at the door and Kami got up to answer it. A tall man with black hair and soft blue eyes was on the other side.
"Can I help you?" she asked a little sassy.
"My name is Ariel" The man said.
After explaining, Kami and Jackson felt kind of stupid that they didn't listen before.
"You’re the lion the kid saw?" Kami asked
Ariel nodded. "Children can sometimes see thing that adults cannot."
"Mm hmm" Jackson nodded unbelieving.
"Being the Lion of God, children under the age of 8 years old are able to see me if they have the faith" Ariel explained
"Well, then either a lot of kids have 'the faith', or there's something else out there making them see some angel lion thing" Jackson folded his arms.
"I've only visited 5” Ariel explained.
“That’s plenty to cause suspicion for us” Tank frowned.
"They would say that they saw the Lion of God. There should be nothing to fear”
"Well that was the biggest waste of a trip that…”
“Not entirely.” Kami interrupted her partner. “There is a rumor about some guy that kills college students in the glades”
Ariel looked quite surprised. “Is it close to Homestead?”
“Yeah why?” Kami questioned.
“The one that I am protecting lives there. I must go”
"Wait what? Where are you going?" Tank asked.
Ariel opened his mouth but quickly shut it. The pair raised their eyebrows at each other then looked at Ariel but he had already disappeared.
"Freaking Ninja" Jackson said. "Let's just look for the glades killer, he's probably some wendigo or something" He left the room with Kami close behind.
