I stared up at the big house trying to hide the wonder in my eyes, after living in a tiny trailer for the past two years I forgot how good a majority of the vampires have it. My wonder is short lived when I hear my mother greet Bernie and his son Devin, when I had first heard that Bernie had a son I had been excited for the first time in my life because I thought I'd finally found someone just like me but sadly I was wrong, Devin was the son Bernie had with his first mate who died during a battle she volunteered to help in when Devin was five. Though even if he was like me I still wouldn't like him he is way too nice, it's unnatural honestly.
"Nicolai come on inside everyone is excited to meet you and your mother" Bernie says from the porch pulling me out of my thoughts causing me to roll my eyes and walk towards the house
"They aren't excited to meet me they are excited to see the broken rule" I reply knowing he doesn't understand but my mother does and shoots me a look that says "Watch your attitude" as we walk into the living room which is filled with people who all turn and look directly at me with curiosity dancing in their eyes, I look down feeling uncomfortable by all the stares
"Everybody this is my mate Valeriya and her daughter Nicolai, as you know they are moving in with us so please try to make them feel right at home" Bernie starts then continues "There are five other families that live here, there is Mark his mate Vivian and their son Chris, Jack his mate Andy and their son Ryan, Aaron his mate Leina and their son Josh, Dennis his mate Jakob and their son Angelo, and then there is Richard his mate Noel and their son Ricky. All the boys are the same age as Nicolai so they shouldn't have that hard of a time getting along" Bernie introduces us all and then him and my mother excuse themselves to go unpack the car which shouldn't take long because we don't have much. I let out a small squeal of surprise when I'm pulled into a bone crushing hug by Devin when they adults start going back to I assume whatever they were doing before my mother and I had shown up
"I'm so glad you and Val are finally moving in!" he exclaims finally letting me go "Oh, let me introduce you to the guys, this is Chris, Ryan, Ricky, Angelo, and Josh but he doesn't like his name so call him Balz" he points at each one even though I had already been told who they were by his father not ten minutes earlier, I wave at them with a politely smile then turn to Devin
"Can you show me the room I'll be staying in please?" he smiles and nods his head leading me upstairs and down a hall to the left then another also to the left and stopping at the last door to the right and opening it to let me in, I thank him and he leaves.
The room is beautiful, it's a bit bigger than average but not gigantic, the walls are dark grey, they bed is a big black four post bed positioned in the center of the back wall, the windows over look the front yard, there is a walk in closet and a bathroom attached. After I look around I take my shoes off and crawl into the bed, falling asleep shortly after.
