Underdog

"Why were you screaming? What were you dreaming about that could be that bad?" Josh asks and I freeze with terror of facing my nightmare, in the bathroom doorway my back to him and my mother
"I can't remember" I say trying not to sound as scared as I feel "It must not of been important" closing the bathroom door before anymore questions are asked I let out a long sigh.

After my shower I feel much more refreshed. Getting dressed, my legs long to do something so I decide to go for a walk. I know my mom wouldn't be okay with my decision, she'd probably lecture me about pushing my body while it's still recovering and demand I take someone with me if I must go, but honestly I just want to be alone. So I sneak out the front door as quiet as possible. Pulling the cigarettes out of my pocket I light one up, heading towards the park at the end of the street.

I'm sitting on a swing finishing my second cigarette when the hair on the back of my neck stands up and I am immediately on edge. I look around but don't see anything, I'm the only one here. I start to regret coming here alone, why am I so goddamn stupid? Taking out my phone I call Devin not knowing what to do but knowing I shouldn't be by myself any longer than I've already been, especially when I'm so weak
"Nicolai? what's wrong?" he asks worried because there should be no reason for me to call him
"Devin, would you and the guys like to come to the park?" I ask vaguely not knowing if someone is listening and hoping he picks up on my tone
"Why are you at the park you should be in bed? What's going on?" He asks confused
"I walked down here to breathe and be alone for a while but now I'm just a bit lonely" I glance around me again when I get a chill "Please, Devin" I plead starting to panic, what the fuck is going on?
"Fuck! I'm on my way!" he says rushed and I can hear him running around probably getting his shoes
"Devin, can you bring the boys too?" trying to take deep breaths I pause before continuing "Josh too"
"Yeah, we're on our way" I hear the front door shut "Do you want me to stay on the phone or can I hang up?"
"Just hang up the phone and get down here" Trying to sound carefree but getting another chill "I'll see you in a few" I hang up before he answers and just stare at the screen with shaking hands.
