I'm Not Okay

“Okay ready guys?” Dr. Shannon asked she was in her full scrubs and so was Gerard, all they had to do now was rolling me into the O.R and take these babies out of me.

“Ready as well ever be.” I said and held Gerard’s hand tight.

“We’ll be here when you’re done.” My mother said as she held Bryce and bounced him around, we could tell he was a little freaked out by all the doctors but he wasn’t crying or anything which was a good thing.

“Bye peanut.” I said and waved to my baby, before I knew it he was out of sight and we were making our way down to the O.R and before I knew it they had numbed me up and Gerard was sitting next to my face and they were working on taking the girls out.

“How are we gonna know which one is which?” I asked and I squeezed his hand.

“Well how about we name the older one Gee because I’m older?” He suggested.

“But what if she’s not Gee and she’s Frankie?”

“How about next time let’s not have twins.”

“Or no more babies.” I suggested.

“Sorry to interrupt,” We heard Dr. Shannon say and we both stopped to listen to her, “But the first one is ready to come out, Gerard you wanna cut the cord?”

Gee nodded and walked away from my head and over to where Dr. Shannon was and out of my view, and in a few seconds I heard little cries and Gerard walked back over to my head with her in his arms and he had a few tears running down his face.

“She’s so precious baby.” He said and kissed my head.

I reached out and stroked her little face and held back my own tears.

“Francesca.” I said.

“You’re right baby.” Gerard said and kissed my head then passed her to a nurse that was waiting for her.

“Baby A out at 7:47pm, and baby B out at 7:52.” Dr. Shannon said and then we heard another small cry and Gerard left my vision and came back with a smaller, but still perfect child.

“Little Gee.” I said and stroked her face for a moment.

“Alright Frank, you know what’s gonna happen next. We’re gonna take them down and clean them up and before you know it they’ll be all clean and in your arms and ready to go home.”

“Thank you doctor.” I said and Gerard came by and kissed the side of my head.
