Dark and Rainy Nights

His Broken Face

The butterflies were back, lifting me up through the tree, closer and closer to his window. Goosebumps spread across my body like an infectious disease as my eyes laid upon another set of eyes.

But they weren't his.

They belonged to his mother standing across the room.

I froze.

I didn't know what to do. Tears began swelling in my eyes, I could feel my chest collapsing.

He had been caught.

In my statue form I watched as his mother pointed at him to turn around; to explain what I was doing in the tree. The last thing I remember seeing was his broken face before I felt myself falling into a powerful white light.
