It's the year 2063 and Earth is on its last legs of life, if they don't find an alternative place to live than the life on Earth will blip out of existence in the next decade or so.
Orion and Rhys find themselves hurtling through space towards their new home. A planet eons from Earth where they are to spend the next year. Officially, they're heading to test whether the station is a suitable small scale replica that Earth would like to add onto for larger inhabitation.
Orion and Rhys are there for different reasons, Rhys kinda thinks this is a punishment for badmouthing a superior, and Orion was looking for an escape from his old life.
Just remember, what happens in space, stays in space.
