Lucky to Be Alive

The one thing that was killing me the most was the uncertainty of his condition.

I could hear sirens blazing through the stormy night sky which ignited a spark of hope within. Help was near but was it too late? I had way to many thoughts, possibilities floating around my head. Sounds became dull as I became consumed by them.

I turned and watched as a fire engine and ambulance pulled up in my yard. I watched them carefully cut branches off with a chainsaw, placed him carefully on a stretcher and rushed him into the ambulance.

I was pushed and pulled by my parents as we followed the ambulance to the hospital on the other side of town.

The closer I got the finding out his condition the more I was consumed in thought.

I was almost blinded by the bright white walls of the hospital, everything was fading into nothing.

That was until I heard the words.

"He is lucky to be alive."
