Rosiland Avenue

“Why can’t you just be like everyone else?”

Walter Carlisle has heard this his whole life; from his friends, his family, and even the girl that he thinks he’s in love with. But the problem is, Walter can’t be like everyone else, because he suffers from Asperger’s Syndrome, and he doesn’t know how to be.

When his mother dies — the only person in the world that truly loves him, Walt’s world is shaken when he discovers that the dad he thought to have died a hero at war is still alive, and living in a house on Rosiland Avenue. Now Walt must decide whether he can accept the dad that he’d once admired, the man that abandoned him at birth, or whether to continue living the life that he’s grown comfortable with.

But the thing is — his life is not all it’s cracked up to be, either. His girlfriend hates him, and he doesn’t know why, his mother’s dead, and no one seems to understand a single thing that he says. And as much as he can’t stand to change, Walt’s got to realise that — normal or not, illness or not, this is not the life that he deserves.
