Chapter 18
Todays the day we get to go home. I had to stay a day over so today is also the day the boys go to America, which kind of is a good thing, as hopefully we can get out of the hospital fine because everyone will be distracted about the boys at the airport.
The hospital do have a back entrance where we can pull the car up to so we don't have to go out the front and to the main car park so that is also good just in case someone is snooping around or anything.
I know you normally do the whole, carry the baby out in the car seat, but Ashton decided he wanted to carry her, which also meant we didn't have to bring the car seat in. It was 12:00 Ashton had to go see the boys before they left at 11:00 and then he was coming to pick us up. He said he would be back around 12:15 so i started to get my things together, it was still a pain to walk and move but manageable. I gathered up all my belongings and put them into the suitcase Ashton had brought my stuff in. Ayla was asleep in the little cot next to the bed. I went into the little bathroom attached to my room and brushed my teeth and quickly washed over my face. As i was coming out Ashton walked into the room
"hey babe" i said
"hey we nearly ready to go" he asked
"yeah just need to put her in her going home clothes, but i wanted to wait for you to be here too"
most new parents have a going home outfit picked out weeks beforehand and took the time to go to the shops with it in mind, seeing as our plan was a home birth we didn't have that, so we decided her going home clothes would be the super cute minnie mouse bodysuit Anne bought.
"do you think i should feed her first" i asked Ashton
"i guess so" he replied shrugging his shoulders
i picked Ayla up and she stirred in my arms, i gently rocked her and then sat down on the bed to try and feed her. after a couple of minutes trying to get her to, she just didn't want to
"ash she doesn't want to" i said looking up
"Then why don't we just change her and wait till we get home and try again, shes gotta be hungry at some point"
"okay lets do that"
i laid her down on the bed and we got her stuff together before changing her. Ashton got er little outfit out of her bag we had all her things in
"Do you want to do it' he asked me
"no you can"
"Are you sure, it's a big moment"
"i'm sure"
he started taking off the little bodysuit she was wearing and she was wiggling a bit and not enjoying the experience at all.
I stood back and took a few pictures of him changing her, he checked her nappy and decided not to change it and put the minnie mouse outfit on
"Li, you can come put her hat on"
i picked up the little hat with ears and oh my goodness she looked absolutely adorable. i took a quick picture of her and sent it round to everyone, dad, Maui, Anne and the boys with the caption "shes ready to go home" obviously the boys wouldn't get it until they are in America, but within seconds of sending it we had a reply from dad and Anne gushing at how cute their granddaughter is.
"looks like you are all ready to go" A nurse said as she entered the room
"Yeah we are" i replied
"well you just need to fill out these and then you're free to go" she said handing me a couple forms. i mainly just had to sign them and date etc.
"I'll get the bags babe" i said
"are you sure, i can get a nurse to help"
"i'm fine, you just get Ayla-Mai and i have everything else"
he wrapped her up in the blankets and picked her up, her head up by his shoulder and the blanket covering her. I got my suitcase and the baby bag we had and we headed out. She said by the the doctors and nurses as we made our way out
"the car is literally right at the door" Ash said
"Thats good and the seat is all ready"
"Yeah, i had mum check it all out as well to make sure it's fine"
"okay good"
"It's okay to feel nervous babe, i am too, this is all new"
"i know, but what if i do something wrong or hurt her or something"
"you wont Liv, you're going to be amazing and mum is here to help and Jay"
"i know, i know i'm just freaking out because we're going home"
We got to the car and he gently placed her in her car seat, then put the bags in the back as i went round to Ayla and checked her out, just to make sure. I then got into the back next to her as Ashton got in the front. i swear, we drove like 10mph and just so carefully, i could tell Ash was nervous, he was just trying to hold it in for my sake. I watched Ayla-Mai sleeping peacefully in her seat, the drive took like 40 minutes with how slow Ash was going. Once we pulled up to our house i got out and went round to Ayla and picked her up as he got the bags. we went up to the front and Ash opened it i step inside
"welcome home princess" i said
we went into the living room and sat down. she got a little unsettled so i tried to feed her again and this time she took it. Once she was done i passed her over to ash and he laid down on the couch with her on him.
"do you want some tea" i asked as i got up
"i can do it babe"
"no, no you stay here with her i can do it"
"okay fine, and yes please"
I went into the kitchen and boiled some water. As i waited i go the cups out and the tea bags, i swear kettles take so long to boil, it finally clicked and i made the tea. i went back into the living room and saw Ash sleeping and Ayla asleep on him. It was such a precious site. i quietly put the cups down and got my phone from the side and snapped a picture of them and sent it out with "daddy and princess time" caption. It's weird looking at them both asleep their mouths relax into the same shape and she looks even more like Ashton.
I decided to let them sleep and i went onto my twitter
"It's so good to be back at home" i tweeted
i got a bunch of tweets flying in asking if i'm okay and what happened
"@OliviaJess i am fine, thank you everybody"
@kkel89 if you're fine, then why didn't Ashton go to America, why are you holding him back
@OliviaJess @kkel89 Ashton will explain everything soon, there's more to this situation than you think
@OliviaJess just so we're all clear, i'm not holding Ashton back, it was his decision if he went to America or not.
@OliviaJess Once Ashton & I are ready he will tell everyone whats been going on.
I logged out and set my phone down and sipped my tea. Ayla started cyring which woke ash up, he sat up with her and started gently rocking her to calm her.
"So do you know when you're going to tell everyone" i asked
"no, not exactly, this morning they told me they want it out before the boys are back from America, just so they aren't put in the position of lying"
"I see, so really in the next couple days you're going to have to put out a statement"
"Yeah, i just have to think about how i'm going to go about it"
"well be nice, iw as on twitter while you snoozed and some people are blaming me for you not being in America saying i'm holding you back and everything"
"they just dont know babe and are jumping at things, just ignore them"
Ayla was back asleep in his arms
"do you want to go nap" he asked
"yeah i'm so tired" we got up and went to our room, it was so nice to see our bed and know how comfy it is and to be able to sleep in it again. Ash put her down in the mosey basket by our bed and i changed into some comfy clothes and crawled into bed. It felt so nice, Ash was next to me in seconds and we cuddled up and fell asleep.
Day one of Ayla being home, so far so good.
