Ten

I sighed staring at the door Myla had walked in minutes ago.

I didn’t know if I would ever be able to see her and not think about what she was about to do.

I understood why she felt like this was her only option. If she had this baby she would be giving up all her dreams of going off to college and instead she would be stuck raising a baby and resenting me for the rest of her life.

I couldn’t live with that, even if I tried.

I saw the door opening and then Myla walked out, her face flushed and her eyes puffy from crying.

She ran into my arms and let out a cry, “I couldn’t do it.”

I hugged her tightly and kissed the top of her head, “we’ll figure something out, I love you.”

“I love you too,”
