Shanking Victim Placed on Injured Reserve

(September 6th, 2012) Team officials announced today that shanking victim, Blair McCormick, will not be able to play in Saturday’s game against the Army Black Knights.

McCormick sustained 10 stab wounds after being attacked by multiple inmates wielding plastic sporks. McCormick collapsed following the shanking and had to be rushed to the jail’s Medical Ward.

McCormick has not been released from the medical ward as of the time of this report as he is still receiving treatment.

No official statement has been released by Rikers Island in terms of how long he will be out, but McCormick did ask reporters “Trick or Treat?” multiple times while we were in the room trying to get updates.

Rikers Island has placed him on the Injured Reserve along with Cheerleading Co-Captain Fu Fu Brown. Fu Fu remains doubtful for the Army game as she remains in Solitary Confinement, but Blair McCormick has officially been ruled out, and he won’t play against Army.

Reserve Running back, Skip Clay, will likely fill in for McCormick while he is out. Clay recorded no rushing stats in the first game of the season against Navy. However, Clay did fumble 4 kickoffs.

There is cause for concern as Clay still is slated to start at kick returner for Rikers Island, despite his poor performance against Navy.
