Dreamcatcher

Prologue

Jacob Black was falling fast, and not in the sense of love. He was never in love. Infatuated? Maybe one could call it that. But he was never in love. No, he cared about Bella. He cared about her deeply, but he was never in love. That's why he didn't mind it much to spend time with her, knowing she was just trying to fill the void left behind by Edward. That's why he hardly cared when she had gone back to live with her mother. But that was the problem; he hardly cared.

Bella leaving Washington prompted the Cullens to leave, too. The vampire population had gone from seven plus visitors to zero just as fast as they had come. After Bella left, all Jacob really had was his pack. When the vampire problem left with her, he had nothing. He was back to being the kid that didn't have anything to worry or care about off the rez. He was back to boring old school, caring for his father, and the occasional visit to see a film or have dinner with family. Jacob Black was falling fast, and not in the sense of love.
