Chapter 213: You Met A Guy?

Twigs spent all of her Saturday with her girl, Simone. They used up the morning hanging around her place, Simone telling her her plans for the future of the house and what little renovation she might make if she finds the time within her career to do so. Twigs soaked in all in, and gave her own suggestions and concepts for the place too that were met with gratitude. When they decided to leave the house, it was to grab some lunch by the beach and after feasting the burgers and fries down, they grabbed their smoothies and headed down to the sand to locate a remote spot to sit.

Their eyes were observing the people swimming in the ocean when Simone divulged some private information out. “Sooooo…I met a guy by the name of Demarcus recently.”

Twigs didn’t catch her words at first under the warm rays of the California sun and soft ocean breezes, but when it finally caught up to her, she nearly choked on her watermelon smoothie. Pressing the back of her hand to her mouth, she coughed a couple of times to clear her airway just in case some of the sweet liquid got lodged down there. Glancing to her left, she gaped down at a smiling Simone leaning back on her elbows. “Excuse me!?”

“You heard me.” Simone countered, giggling that she nearly made her friend choke on her own drink.

“You met a guy called Demarcus?” Twigs recounted word by word, a look of elation in her eyes. “As in a GUY guy?”

“Yup, a GUY guy.” Simone confirmed, sipping her strawberry and banana smoothie from a fun twisty straw.

“How come you’ve never mentioned meeting this GUY guy before?” Twigs demanded to know, slightly vexed that she was hearing this information now. It wasn’t everyday Simone met a guy deserving of the term GUY guy. Only the ones that stood out to you due to steamy attraction meritted that title.

“Because it wasn’t anything important at the time, girl. Don’t you think I would have told you if it was?” Simone told her, arching a brow. “It was just pointless flirting between the two of us then. That is…until last Thursday.”

“Who is he? Do I know him?” Twigs began interrogating her, turning in place to face her instead of the ocean. The sublime ocean and it’s people could wait. This was more imperative. Her brown eyes locked on Simone’s face, prowling for answers that she might try and suppress from her. “Oh my god, is he a part of Seth’s circles of friends?”

“No!” Simone burst out laughing. She couldn’t imagine herself being in a relationship with someone who was faithfully married to his occupation first. As much as she marveled at Seth, she couldn’t see how Twigs was able to make it work with him. The time spent between them was spanning further and further apart from them, and yet here she was jumping at every feasible likelihood he had to see her.

“Then explain! I need details, woman!” Twigs spurred her, shooting her a glare. “I’ll hate you forever and burn your house down with you in it if you don’t!”

Not taking her threat seriously, Simone gave up the answers she was seeking. “He sometimes works at the coffee shop by my house. The place is his family’s business. He lends a hand there when they need it, but other than that he's pretty much in college right now for business. He plans to start his own business one day.”

Relentless, Twigs noticed she hadn’t mentioned his full name yet. “And his name? Demarcus what?”

Bitch, please! I ain’t telling you!” Simone resisted with a laugh, shaking her head at her and turning her attention to a man parasailing. “We should go parasailing next time you come back around. What do you say?”

“Why won’t you tell me his name?” Twigs demanded with a pout, not falling for her subject transition. Parasailing can wait too. “Unless the guy’s name is Seth MacFarlane we shouldn’t have any problems here, right?”

“You misunderstood me, Twigs. It’s not YOU that I’m worried about.” Simone sighed, sitting up and looking at her. “It’s him. I gotta make sure this guy is 100% worthy enough to meet you, my girl. I ain’t about to squander any of my best friend’s time on some incompetent unfit fuckboy.”

“Aww, Simone! That's so sweet of you! I appreciate that.” Twigs gushed with a darling grin.

“It’s true. He’s gotta be foolproof if he wants to be graced by your presence.” Simone added.

“So…how much do you like this guy so far?” Twigs inquired with an upbeat smile. She wanted her girl to find someone like she had. Simone deserved it all and that included a love like no other along with her prosperous career.

Simone mulled over it for a minute. “Well…I guess I do like the guy…” A mischievous gleam shone in her eye as she turned her gaze to Twigs and winked at her. “But not enough to pass up a forbidden relationship with a billionaire.”

Rolling her eyes at her, Twigs bantered along. “Who wouldn’t? Certainly not me!”

Getting serious about the matter now, Simone said. “So far, Demarcus seemed to be a pretty great guy. But then again we only just met. I’d rather give it some more time before I make up my mind about him.”

“Smart idea.” Twigs praised with a proud nod.

“Exactly! The way I see it, by then I should have all the facts I need to know about him.” Simone deduced with a shrug.

“Prevents you from falling head over heels too soon and then finding out he’s just a scumbag under a pretty face.” Twigs weighed in, thinking of the worst case scenario.

“That happens in too many damn movies!” Simone reminded her with a knowing look.

“And to me.” Twigs conceded with a frown, thinking of her boyfriend.

“Watch your mouth, woman! Seth isn’t a scumbag!” Simone scolded her for saying that.

“I know. I was one of the lucky ones.” Twigs sighed in comfort. Getting back to Demarcus, she inquired. “So what does Demarcus look like since I’m not allowed to meet him yet?”

Laughing at Twig’s tenacity, Simone willingly bent to it. “Demarcus is a tall African American young man with locs that fall past his shoulder and a body that’s on fire!”

“That’s it?” Twigs whined, nudging her with the tip of her sandal. “Come on, you gotta give me more detail than that! How is his body on fire?”

“Alright, I’ll put it to you this way, his body isn’t all skinny like Seth. The man got some muscles on him.” Simone depicted as best as she could from the last time she saw Demarcus. He had been in the cafe serving in a sleeveless olive green shirt, burnt orange swimming trunks, and sandals. She didn’t have to see him naked to get a good idea of what he might look like underneath all those clothes. The muscles couldn't be disguised. Neither could his uplifting personality. The guy exuded such an agreeable aura she couldn’t decline his pursuit for her. It began the first time she stepped foot in that cafe and has taken place every time since. The guy who hardly worked there was now snagging shifts in order to catch her whenever he could. According to his mother and sisters.

Gasping at her remark on her man, Twigs flung a dried seashell at Simone. “Girl, you better watch your mouth when you speak on my man! He may not have muscles but that man could have your body convulsing into seizures of orgasms all night long with just a look!”

“GAH! I don’t wanna hear that shit!” Simone burst out laughing with Twigs, covering her ears. Seth didn’t appear to her like he could rock a woman’s world the way her friend just described, but if that’s what she says then that was fine with her, she just didn’t need to know about it.

“Then don’t say his name again!” Twigs threatened her playfully. Her eyes were then drawn to the ocean waves crashing on the shore and all the people rushing to meet them. Just mentioning her boyfriend made her miss him. She imagined she’d see him the following day. Still, she wasn’t ready to leave Simone’s side so soon, especially because when she returned back to the UK she’d be going alone again.
