To Caress My Day

Chapter 233: First Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day. The day of love. Couples and lovers alike come together with gifts and activities to spend quality time glorifying their love. Why Twigs took the day off today, she had no clue. No, that was a lie. She knew exactly why she took the day off, she was just embarrassed over it. She was waiting for Seth to show up out of the blue unannounced. As she strayed between her living room and her kitchen, Twigs didn’t know why she was waiting for ever unavailable Seth, but her heart strongly coerced her to do so.

Was her boyfriend really going to spontaneously show up today at her door unannounced?

Maybe.

Would he call her to meet him downstairs in Derek’s car so they could spend the day together?

Maybe.

Or perhaps Derek would drop by alone to whisk her off to Seth’s mansion in the UK?

Maybe.

The point to all of this was that Twigs had no clue what was gonna happen today on this national Holiday. She just knew she wanted to be accessible to Seth just in case he had something up his sleeve she didn’t know about yet. Traversing throughout her apartment aimlessly all dressed up with her curls piled high on top of her head, Twigs basically had nowhere to go though she’d be ready to.

When a knock sounded on Twig’s apartment door, she jumped in place, knocked out of her uncertainty. Anticipating it to be her boyfriend on the other side ready to be reunited with her again, she scurried to the door with her heart pounding in her chest and swept it open. She was met with a magnificent decorative vase brimming with flowers. Gasping with delight, Twigs reached out to take the bouquet from whom she suspected was her boyfriend on the other side of the flowers. “Oh! Seth, thank you so much for this, my love! They’re gorgeous!”

The man behind the vase turned out to not be her boyfriend, but a delivery man. Twigs gasped at the man in the forest green uniform with a logo printed on the front of some Flower shop. He appeared sympathetic to her inaccuracy of his identity. “Sorry, ma’am. My name isn’t Seth, it’s Alex. I’m guessing you must be the lucky Miss Barnett?”

“Y-Yes. I’m sorry. I thought you were my boyfriend.” Twigs apologized to him, depositing the bouquet on the same table by the door where she typically tossed her house keys on. She held her hands out, expecting to have to sign something for the flowers, but the man only stepped aside to gesture to a flatbed he transported up to her floor that brought vases after vases of flowers for her.

“As you can see here there is more where that vase comes from.” Alex notified her before asking. “So how would you like me to do this? Hand you each one at a time, or…?”

Twigs gaped at the volume of vases before reverting her attention to the accommodating delivery man awaiting her command. “Um, yes I think that’ll be fine.”

Zooming back inside, the two got to work. Alex would hand her a single vase and Twigs would dash to locate a place for it. When the last order of flowers was set down, she finally got to sign her signature on Alex’s electronic device before bidding each other a good day. Shutting the door behind him, Twigs slowly turned to face the legion of bouquets, noticing that each had a card tucked away between some flowers. After compiling them all together, Twigs discovered that each card had a message above the name Woodbury, Seth’s middle name. They seemed to be in pieces, and so Twigs took to laying them out on the floor to make sense of them. Once finished, she stood up and read the now organized message.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Pixie! God, I’ve missed you so much! I can’t believe I haven’t seen you in person since your birthday. I hope one of these days I’ll be able to see you again soon. I’m working day and night to make sure that can happen. As you probably already know, I can’t make it this year for our first Valentine’s Day together, but I’m gonna try my damnest to make it up to you by planning the best setup I can do from here. Just you wait. I love you so much, Tahliah. I’m literally dying everyday we’re apart.

Twigs reread the part where Seth stated he had concocted the best setup he could from California. It sounded to her like this setup didn’t just begin and end with a billion vases of flowers and cards. All of a sudden, from somewhere in her apartment, Twigs heard her phone vibrating. Ditching the cards on the floor, she retrieved the device out of her coat draped on her bed. The contact was Seth! Squealing to herself, Twigs answered it with an amorous sigh of his name. “Seth.”

“Are you home right now?” Seth inquired, getting right down to business of her Valentine surprise.

“I am. I just got your flowers!” Twigs told him with a grin. She was thrilled that he was about to report to her that he was in London and wanted to come over and see her…except that wasn’t his next words.

“I’m glad you did. Now, go and get your laptop for me, Pixie. Sadly, I don’t exactly have all the time in the world to make this video call.” Seth guided her speedily, needing her next moves to be quick while he sat in his office at Fox Studios.

Twig’s smile wobbled as she realized he wasn’t in the UK like she yearned. He was still in California. Brushing that off for another time, she darted for her laptop in her bedroom and set it up on the kitchen table. When it wouldn’t start up, she realized it was out of battery life. With a curse, she raced back to her room and whipped her charger out of its plug and flew back into the kitchen. Plugging her laptop in, Twigs sighed with relief when it turned on and she was finally able to log in. “Alright, I’m ready.”

Seth sent her a request to voice call with him. When she accepted, she was greeted by his excited grinning face in his office. Love was practically spurting from his brown eyes as they took in as much detail of her as he could. She hadn’t changed all that much, but he managed the fact he needed to shave made him look a bit different to her since he typically kept himself clean-shaven. The cap on his head and his blue button-up flannel were still Seth MacFarlane though. “Goddamn, Tahliah. You look absolutely ravishing today.”

Feeling tears flood to her eyes at the sight of him, Twigs covered her hands with her face and giggled behind them. “Thank you, baby. I wish I could say the same to you, but…you look like hell.”

“Correction, it’s called working. But yeah, you’re right.” Seth quipped with a chuckle, running a hand over his jaw to feel the scruff growing there. Forgetting about the need to shave, he leaned forward in his seat as if tilting his head would give him an improved vision of his girlfriend. “Pixie, can you stand up for me? I want to look at you better. It’s been ages since I’ve last seen you in person.”

Obediently, Twigs rose from her chair and moved it aside so it wouldn’t get in the way. Turning a slow circle to give him the full view, she showed off her long white button up top with black prints on it, the black fake leather belt cinched around her waist, the matching tight black leather pants and her black leather platform boots. “What do you think?”

“It’s nice, baby. Though, you know me, I’d prefer to see more of that delectable skin underneath.” Seth confessed with a shrug and a lustful smile.

“It’s too cold out there in London, silly! And I…” Twigs wavered for a moment, her smile dropping as she averted her eyes. “And I was actually hoping you’d be able to show up in London today so we could celebrate Valentine’s Day together instead of apart.”

Seth expelled a long sigh for disappointing her and making this Valentine Day less magical for her. “I know baby, I know. I feel the same way. You got the flowers I sent you though, right? I’m talking about ALL of the flowers? Cause I sent more than just ten, maybe even twenty.”

Instead of answering him, Twigs gradually turned her laptop around so it would get the whole interior of her apartment hidden under all the bouquets. There wasn’t much flat surface left for anymore than ten of them so she had to get creative on placements. “I don’t know. You count them for me.”

Chuckling at her teasing, Seth asked her softly. “Does that make up for my absence? At least a little bit?”

“Truthfully?” Twigs began, a faint smile on her face. “It doesn’t even come close to the real thing though I love every single one of them dearly.”

“Hmm. Then maybe what I have in store for you next might do the trick.” Seth told her while tapping a finger on his chin. He then picked up his phone nearby to text someone.

Arching a brow at Seth, Twigs inquired with an affectionate smile. “Seth, what are you doing? Or maybe I should be asking you instead what you have up your sleeves?”
