Under the Sparkling Stars

"So... uh , hey" Lara smiled nervously making me nod.

We're on our way to the family gathering and things were beyond awkward between us. I've never thought for one second that things would be this awkward between Lara and I since we've always been friends and comfortable with each other.

I thought after dinner at my parents things would be good between us since it felt like old times. Lara was having fun the whole time , she was happy and that made me happy.

But now things were downhill again , it felt like we're back to square one.

"H-hey. Uh you look... well... really beautiful"

"Thanks Matty" she whispered , "are you ready to go?"

I nodded and frowned when I saw her figure. She's lost a lot of weight , she doesn't look healthy.

"What?" she asked swallowing nervously almost as if she knew.

"Nothing. Let's get going" I instructed and led her out of the house and into my car.

"Don't"

I frowned as I climbed into the car.

"What?" I questioned , frowning when I looked over at her.

"Don't avoid it. I know what you're worrying about"

"Lara." I sigh and pulled out of the driveway.

"I didn't lose weight... on purpose"

"What do you mean?"

"I have a condition" she sigh looking over at me.

"That makes you lose weight?'

Lara frowned and shook her head. "Can I uh.. tell you later? You deserve to know."

"Sure" I smiled and pulled up at my parents home.

We walked to the front door , and I knocked on the door.

"We have to be couple-y like. Put your arms around me" she ordered.

"You know , I used to kiss you when we pull up at my parents' home"

She rolled her eyes and pushed me playfully , "don't push it Sanders"

Laughing I pulled her closer to me and smiled slightly when my mom answered.

"Oh! Lara and Matt. Good to see you again."

"Hi Kim" Lara grinned , "it's good to see you too."

"Well come on in you two." she smiled and let us in. I sigh as I saw the whole family and pouted at Lara.

"It's not gonna be bad" she whispered and smiled at me.

Sighing I frowned with disappointment when I didn't feel her lips on mine.

I needed to make this right
