Forever

Forever

“You know I’ll always love you, right? Forever?” Janette whispered in Vanessa’s ear, gently stroking her lover’s silky red hair.

“No you won’t,” Vanessa murmured her reply, nuzzling her nose into the crook of Janette’s neck.

“Why would you say that?” Janette asked quietly, lifting Vanessa’s chin gently and searching her electric green eyes for an answer.

“Because forever doesn’t exist.”

“Of course forever exists! What are you on about?”

“Not for me, it doesn’t. I don’t deserve forever. I don’t believe in forever.”

“Why not? Vanessa, I will love you forever. Why can’t you believe that?”

“Because forever hurts. I want to believe that forever exists, I want to believe that you’ll love me forever, trust me, I do. But I can’t believe in forever anymore. I used to believe in forever, but forever is just far too good to be true.” Janette smiled at the slightly younger girl and pecked her lips quickly.

“No, the only thing that’s too good to be true is you.”
