“He just doesn’t know when to give up, huh?”
She had my phone in her hand, denying another call from Michael.
“See, Tyler? See what a mess you’ve made? Two weeks and he still won’t leave us alone.”
She knelt down in front of me, prodding at the fresh cuts and bruises while smiling in satisfaction.
“You know, I can’t help but think how dumb that nurse really is. ‘My boyfriend badly injured his wrist on the plane, but he refused to get it checked out until he knew that I was alright. Such an idiot! But I love him so much for it.’ And she just took you to get it fixed without questioning anything! Remember?”
She let out a laugh.
I didn’t respond – I was too numb to respond; too beat down and broken to care anymore.
She stopped, frowning in turn.
“Tyler…”
She reached a hand towards me, causing me to flinch.
She moved her hand away, sitting on the floor.
“I’m sorry…I was just so angry at the thought of losing you, especially to Michael. I love you so much, Tyler, and I do all of this because I love you…!”
She gently placed a hand onto my cheek.
“You still love me, right…?”
I looked down at my lap, still refusing to respond.
“Tyler…?”
She placed the other hand onto the other cheek.
I kept quiet.
“Tyler, please…! Please…!”
Her hands were on my shoulders now.
“Michael can’t have you! I refuse to let him take you away from me.”
She stood up quickly, striking me across the face.
A kick to the stomach; another kick to the ribs.
Fists landing wherever possible.
I couldn’t even fight back if I wanted to.
“He brainwashed you, Tyler! You still love me! You just can’t remember clearly…! Besides…”
She turned me over with her foot, not hesitating to stomp at my ribs.
“Why would he want something that’s so beat up and broken?”
The last stomp caused me to scream out as pain shot through my whole body.
“Oh, it looks like I broke something – again.”
She stomped on the same spot, letting out a small laugh as I struggled to move away from her.
“Now, I’ll ask again: do you still love me, Tyler?”
"...No. No I don't."
Her eyes widened at my answer.
"W-What...?"
"...I don't love you anymore, Marcia."
She gritted her teeth.
“After all the time we've spent together...After all the times I've struggled to keep you with me...Even with blood pouring from your nose and mouth and a few broken bones, you still…”
She lunged at me, tightly wrapping her hands around my throat, making sure that I couldn’t breathe.
I closed my eyes, letting the tears fall.
This is it.
This is how I’m going to die.
There was a sound of a large crash, causing me to open my eyes.
Marcia was staring at something – no, at someone in horror.
“What are you doing here?! How did you get inside?!”
A tall figure, coming closer and closer.
“Get away! Come any closer and I’ll kill him! Do you understand me?!”
Her grip loosened.
“Marcia, get off him. Now!”
“You’re not taking him away from me, you bastard!”
The figure grabbed her by the hair, throwing her off of me before hitting her until she stopped struggling.
I was losing my vision, but I saw the figure make its way back towards me.
“It’s okay, Tyler…I’m here…It’s all over…”
Before I could make out the face, everything had faded to black.
