Future

“You ready to go home yet?”
“No…Not yet.”

We were sitting on the edge of the mini ramp at the skate park again, watching the sun set in the distance.
Michael placed his hand on top of mine, intertwining our fingers.

I couldn’t help but smile and rested my head on top of his shoulder.

“What are you thinking about?”
“What makes you think that I’m thinking about something?”

“Cause you’re always thinking about something, Fucktard.”
I chuckled.

“Great way to add onto the mood, Michael.”
“It’s what I do best…but in all seriousness…”

“I…I guess I’m just thinking about us. It took me so long to realize what you felt for me…It took me so long to realize that I would be happier with you.”

He was silent for a moment.

“Are you still thinking about…”

“I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t…still…I wonder…if I had never met her, would she still be alive? Would you still have confessed to me without having to worry that I was with someone like her?”

“Granted, I really hated her, but…”
He paused.

“As fucked up as she was…she is one of the reasons that we’re together right now…And as for her being alive…”
He squeezed my hand

“I’m pretty sure that she would have ended it a long time ago if she never met you. You gave her a reason to live a little longer.”
“I guess…”

He hooked his finger under my chin, nudging me to look up at him before pressing his lips against mine.

“Stop thinking about the past, okay? We have our whole lives ahead of us.”
“So do you want me to start thinking about the future?”

He smiled against my lips.

“Pretty much.”

“Well…maybe…”
I nervously played with the bottom of his shirt.

“We could get married…and…”
“Mhm?”

I smiled a little.

“Maybe we…we could have a couple of kids in the future.”
“Already thinking about having little Tychaels?”

“You know…! In the future! And…did you just give our children a ship name?”
He let out a small laugh before nuzzling my cheek with his nose.

“Maybe.”
I sighed.

“What am I going to do with you?”
“In the near future, many things.”

I scoffed as he gave me a wink.

“Okay, time to go home.”
I stood up, skateboard in hand.

“But I’m still setting the mood.”
“You can set the mood when we get back home.”

This time I sent a wink towards him.

He quickly stood up, quickly following after me before grabbing a hold of my hand.

“I love you, Tyler. So much.”

My cheeks grew hot from the statement, but that didn’t stop me from kissing him on the cheek.

“I love you too, Michael.”
