Space Enough to Grow

Let These Chains Fall Away

I could feel the nerves building up in my stomach as another person disappeared behind the Auction door. That was the 5th person since I've been here and there is another 5 in front of me. I could only catch glimpses of the room from the few seconds the door was open and all I saw were black tinted windows and just one single light in the middle of the room. I couldn't see anything else because the door closed too fast. Its almost like they didn't want you to see anything until its your actual turn to be auctioned off. That made it ten times more scary than it should have been.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to see Kellin giving me an excited smile. I liked Kellin, I really did. He's not a dick like most of the vampires here. But he's the type of happy that really freaked you out because its almost brainwashed happiness or robotic. Kinda creepy.

I turned my head away from him and let my mind wonder to the Auction room again. I wonder who was behind there. Who were the buyers as Kellin called them. I was wondering what type of people were behind there. It was highly unlikely they were humans because no human was allowed here that wasn't a slave. In actuality most vampires here honestly hate humans. They only use us for one thing and one thing only. Money.

And then my mind wondered to who would buy me. I mean I'm not that bad looking. Even though I haven't looked at myself in 4 years, I do think I was pretty good looking. I may need a haircut because it's really long now due to neglect. It was to my shoulders and I don't like my hair being that way. It gets in the way of everything and is just too much. It still bothers me to think that I was taken 4 years ago today. Its nerve racking and gets my mind going. I wonder what my parents are up to....

So many thoughts were going through my head but then I stopped when Kellin tapped my shoulder. I looked up and gulped as I realized that I was next as soon as the next slave was auctioned. Fuck I was so lost in thought I didn't realize the line was moving. I could feel my nerves and build in up in my stomach as I realized this. If I was to be sold, it would be to a complete stranger. As least I know most people here. But out there....I haven't seen the day or night in 4 years . It was a little terrifying. And Kellin could sense this.

Kellin leaned down next to my ear and whispered.

"Don't be nervous. Think of it as an chance to be free from here. Just behave and do as your told. You'll be fine" He said to me and I couldn't help but feel like he has a point. Even though I would be going with a stranger, this was a chance to get out of this hell. Maybe I could get a decent meal or maybe some actual clothing instead of these rags. I could actually be able to sleep in a real bed instead of the lumpy old prison mattresses. I could actually be able to shower without people eye fucking you while trying to get clean. There are so many good things that can come out of this .

I found myself actually feeling just a little bit excited by this and I felt a new found confidence surging through me.

The door opened and it revealed a vampire I had not seen before in my time here. He didn't even give me much time to look at him because he pulled me into the room and I jumped a little at the sound of the door closing behind us. I looked around and noticed that the room was actually a circular shape with black tinted windows going around the room. I looked to where the light was hanging and saw there was a platform looking thing right underneath it.

The vampire pushed me towards the platform and I stumbled just a little before regaining my balance. I looked up to see the light beating down on me and I realized it was here as a spotlight to show off the slaves. Like some sick fashion show. I looked around and stared at the windows. It was starting to feel unsettling because I couldn't see who was behind the windows. But they could see me . That was a little creepy to be honest. I had no idea who was behind there yet they could see all of me. That made me start to fidget and look around nervously.

" Stop moving around!" The vampire hissed at me. My head whipped around and I looked at him. I couldn't stop the words from escaping my mouth.

"Fuck off!!" I snapped at him. I knew I should have kept my mouth shut but I couldn't help it. The vampire glared at me and was about to come at me. But a voice came through and filled the room with noise.

" As you can see, Kade here doesn't like doing what's he's told. He was taken from his home 4 years ago and he has always been a fiesty one " The voice said and I through my head back with a loud scoff.

"Oh please no I am not!!" I shouted to no one in particular. Seconds later I noticed numbers beginning to light up above the windows. They were large numbers and it was weird. Every time one number would pop up, multiple would pop up in larger numbers..or amounts. I could see faint dollar signs next to them. Then it dawned on me.

They were bidding on me

I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride go through me. Whatever I was doing made them want me. I didn't know what it was but its paying off because those numbers are well into the 200 thousands. Hey this was my chance to get out of here and I wasn't gonna complain about it. Even if it was with a complete stranger. Besides its nice to know I'm worth something

After a few minutes the bidding stopped on 354,678 thousand dollars.

"354,678 going once...twice....sold to buyer number 9!" The speaker sang out and I smiled just a little. I didn't care who it was or what it was! I was getting the fuck out of here! My smile never left even when the vampire yanked me by my shackles towards a door that was hidden in the dark. This door led to another hallway with multiple doors on either side of the hallway. The vampire pulled me down until we reached the last door on the left and he opened the door. I recognized him as Jayy Von Monroe. He's the one who started the slave trade. Or so I've heard from whispers and rumors. I've seen him a few times and he's talked to me once or twice. That's it. He looked at me and smiled, his green eyes almost electrified.

"Have a seat Kade" He gestured for me to sit and I did so eagerly.

"Now as you understand, you've been sold and there are rules to be followed. 2 simple rules. First and foremost, never speak of the slave trade. There will be dire consequences. And secondly, you will obey your Masters orders to a tee. If those two rules are broken, you won't end up back here. You will end up in our homemade cemetery in the back. Are we clear?" He asked me sweetly and I nodded with a fearful gulp. He smiled at my reaction before looking at the mystery vampire.

"Dahvie send in Mr. Cerulli please" He said and Dahvie nodded before exiting the room. I looked down at my shackles and wanted them off so that I could go. Be free from this place and not have to see them again. I started to tap my foot out of impatience.

A minute later the door opened and Jayy Von looked up with a smile. I turned to see a very tall man standing a few feet behind me. He was easily over 6 feet tall. He had long midnight black hair that rested on his shoulders. I couldn't really make out any facial features because he was wearing sunglasses. But he did have a long nose, high raised cheekbones and thin lips that had three seperate pieces of medal going through them. The metal was curved into a circular shape. Jayy Von had them too but I had no idea what they were called. I observed him more and saw that he was in a very nice black suit. It gave him a look of class and elegance.

"Chris..it's nice to see you back. It's been too long my friend" Jayy said honestly. The man, Chris, nodded as he sat down in the chair next to me. So Chris has bought slaves before?

"As to you Jay. I trust you are well?" His voice...was so deep and yet soft. It had that elegant edge to it. It other words, his voice was nice and fit his physical appearance.

"I am" Jayy answered simply before pulling open a drawer and pulling out a piece of paper. It had old English text on the top in big letters but they got smaller towards the body of the paper and was just in normal text. It looked like a contract.

"I'm sure you know the drill Chris. Just sign your name" Jayy said as he handed him the paper and pen. Chris took the pen and signed his name in beautiful cursive on the signature line before handing the stuff back to Jayy. Jayy took the items and smiled before standing up and shaking Chris's hand. Chris returned the gesture, standing up as well.

"Dahvie, remove the shackles" Jayy instructed. Dahvie nodded and walked over to me. I held out my arms and watched eagerly as he unlocked the shackles and they fell to the floor. Freedom..

"Good luck Kade...and remember, be a good boy" Jayy winked at me and I felt just a little bit of fear. Chris looked down at me behind his shades.

"Come" He said simply but with authority. I nodded shyly and followed him out into the hallway. He led me down the hallway and I couldn't help but notice the way he walked.... So much grace . He didn't speak to me as he led me through a series of hallways that I've never been through nor ever even knew were here. My legs were feeling weird because I haven't walked this much in 4 years. But it was a nice type of weird. I liked it. Walking. Seems so effortless but when you've been in captivity for a long time, nothing seems effortless or trivial.

We reached a larger hallway and in the distance I could see a glass door. A glass door that had darkness outside of it. I could see grass and trees, cars parked out in a lot. It was the outside!!! The actual outside!!! I couldn't believe that I was just feet away from being outside! Being able to inhale the crisp night air! I felt so excited and giddy inside.

Chris pushed the door open and held it open for me to step out. I stepped out eagerly and smiled as I looked around. The ground was cold and hard underneath my feet but it was so different from the concrete. My eyes looked up to the sky and I could see all the stars spread out across it with just a few clouds in the sky. The air was cold but warmer than the inside. Vampires didn't really like the heat so they always kept the building colder than usual.

"This way" Chris said and walked diagonal across the parking lot. I followed quickly behind him, laughing out loud at how the air felt brushing pass my skin, caressing me. Chris turned around and looked me. Although I couldn't see it, I know it was a questioning glance.

"Its been 4 years since I've seen anything outside the slave walls...its overwhelming" I blushed a little and looked down at my bare feet.

"Oh" Was all he said before stopped at a big black SUV. He pulled out a set of keys and clicked on button. The car lit up for a second and I heard a clicking sound. He opened the front door on the passenger side and gestured for me to get in. I walked over to the massive vehicle and literally climbed onto the seat. This car was so big. He closed the door and walked briefly to the other side and getting in with no issues. Soon we were pulling out of the lot and driving away. I looked back and watched as the slave building got smaller and smaller until it disappeared all together.

I'm actually free....
