From Fat to Skinny

Ricci got herself bent out of shape over a stupid mistake. She missed the shot, (kinda loudly) cursed herself out, and when another kid pointed it out she flipped her lid.
Ricci: "Yes, I know I screwed up, all right? I don't need you pointing out the obvious! You gonna just keep standing around laughing at the fat kid who can't play ball, or can we just fucking move on?"
Ms. Severance made her sit out the rest of class. Which really didn't make things any better. Ricci went from pissed off to, I don't know, embarrassed? Can Ricci even get embarrassed? I just know she sat on the bleachers and didn't make eye contact with anyone, even after the class ended.
It isn't like the Ricci I know to get so upset over a game or even a simple mistake. Hell, she makes worse jokes about herself all the time!
I don't get it.
