Unstable

Carly was going to be okay. She sat in the back of the ambulance, a blanket around her shoulders. One of the paramedics was patching her up. She looked over at me, her eyes full of tears.

"God, I'm so sorry," she whispered as I came closer. Before I could say anything, she buried her face in my shirt, her body shaking. "Please forgive me."

"Are you okay?" I asked quietly.

She had bruises on her face and arms, her dark hair tangled.

"I'm tired," she replied. "Is that crazy bitch dead?"

I nodded. "She killed Janna."

Carly put a hand over her mouth, and shook her head. "Fuck. I'm sorry, Eli. I know she was your friend. And I know—I know I made a mistake."

"We all made mistakes," I said, hugging her. "But it's over, Carly. She's finally gone."
