Dead Nightingale

Chapter 5: Christmas

The hallways were empty except a few students for Christmas.

Christmas.

How I hated that holiday.

It was never cheerful in my house. In my house it was always hell.

"Lucinia are you excited for Christmas?" asked Rose extremely excited

"No." I growled

She looked at me with a curious look.

"May I ask why you don't like Christmas?" she asked

"No." I once again growled

"I'm sure your parents gave you lots of presents." she said

"No they did not." I said

She looked at me confused.

Oh that's right. In the eyes of the public my parents were perfect. Perfect hair. Perfect clothes. Perfect life. Perfect marriage. Then there was me. I was seen as their rebel of a daughter when I had done nothing but been born.

"My parents weren't as perfect as everyone believes. Everyone has their dark secrets. And me? Well I am not as bad as my parents made me out to be." I said before getting up to change into normal clothes.

I wanted food.

And that's were I went. To the Great Hall.

I sat in silence at the empty Slytherin table. Rose did sit across from me but I refuse to talk to her.

After dinner I went straight to bed.

I awoke from a dreamless sleep. It was morning. Rose was in the shower. And at the foot of my bed was a gold cage. Inside was a beautiful black owl with almost orange eyes. He clucked at me.

"You like him?" I heard a voice.

I looked over to see Rose already dressed.

I nodded my head. "His name is Ares."

"Greek God of War?" she questioned

I nodded.
