Joanna is your typical sixteen year old within her freshman year at Forks, Washington high school. She lives in Forks with her single father who is a lumberyard worker who cuts trees from dangerous heights. Joanna grew up around her father's coworker and best friend Billy Black while she became close to his son Jacob and niece Dena. Although, Jacob and Joanna live in different towns they try to visit each other on weekends and school breaks. This story begins on Joanna's first day as a freshman at Forks High School and follows her journey throughout school. Soon after she meets the Cullen family and ends up befriending one of the Cullen boys.
