Sidney’s POV- August 2014
I groaned as my tense muscles relaxed on my bed. I closed my eyes and I was almost asleep when I heard the phone ring next to me. I turned on my side and reached for it to see it was Joanna.
“Hello” I said answering.
“Hey!”
I smiled and turned on my back. I groaned a little and flinched.
“Oops, I forgot the time difference”
I laughed.
“It’s fine, it’s still early here” I told her.
“Oh ok, so what are you doing?”
“Laying in bed, pretty boring stuff” I told her.
“I wish I was laying in bed, I’m stuck in an office”
I smiled and looked up at the ceiling.
“Shouldn’t you be working?” I asked her.
She paused for a bit and laughed.
“Kinda?”
I laughed and shook my head.
“Paper work is stupid”
“You might get caught” I told her.
“No I won’t, the only people here are my boss and I. He’s in his office and I’ll hear him before he ever gets near me”
“Ahh I see, so what kind of paper work are you doing?” I asked her.
I heard light tapping and I figured she was typing.
“Sending in insurance forms, all types”
“Fun” I told her making her laugh.
“Very fun, you’d be surprised how many scenarios that can destroy a building”
“I bet” I told her.
She coughed lightly and I heard her take a sip of something.
“Getting sick?” I asked her.
“Kinda, I haven’t exactly been taking care of myself or eating well. I know it’s horrible but I’ve been super busy”
“Your boss must be really strict if he’s giving you that much work. You’re only an intern” I said.
“Oh! I totally forgot to tell you!”
“Tell me what?” I asked.
“I got a promotion you could say. I have my own office and go to meetings and all.”
“Oh wow, congrats” I said.
“Thanks, It’s hard though. Lots of meetings, you should know how boring those get”
I didn’t, the only time I was really at a meeting was for a contract extension, the lockout, and like team meetings.
“Yea” I said slowly.
She let out a puff of air.
“It gets lonely though, I’m the only girl in the meetings so it’s like I have no say”
I nodded slowly and she sighed.
“I’m like invisible but hey it’s a great position”
“That’s great” I told her.
“Yea, when do you start work?”
“Next week” I told her.
“Lucky, I would love to be at home sleeping”
I hummed and my room door opened. Nathan was staying with us.
“Dinner is ready”
“I’m on the phone” I told him.
“Is that Nathan?”
“Yea” I told Joanna.
“Tell him I said hi!”
“Will do” I said.
Nathan raised an eyebrow.
“Joanna, she says hi” I told him.
“Hey Jojo!”
She laughed lightly and light chatter was heard.
“I have to go but it was nice getting a hold of you”
“Yea, just text me” I told her.
“Have you gotten your iPhone?”
“No, I ordered it already though and I will get it tomorrow” I told her.
“Fun! We could Face time through our phones!”
I laughed lightly.
“Bye Sidney”
“Bye” I told her.
“Take care”
“You too” I said.
She laughed and paused.
“Bye”
She hung up and I let out a deep breath.
“You aren’t allowed to feel that way!”
I looked at Nathan and he glared at me.
“Stupid”
“Shouldn’t you be at home?” I asked him.
He narrowed his eyes and huffed. He was still mad at me, and it was quite comical to see a teenager hormonal over your love life.
“We’re only friends, but I talk to her every waking moment and mumble her name in my sleep, and literally cant get her out of my head. But yes! We are just fucking friends even though I’ve seen her naked more than 4 times!”
He walked out and I rubbed my face. He was really mad over this.
