Somewhere Only We Know

18: I Trust You

“Have you got anything special planned for tonight?” Sergio posed as he sipped on his drink. It had been a couple of weeks since Iker and Ariana had gotten back together and all too quickly, Valentine ’s Day had rolled around, something which made the defender curious. Iker had never liked the holiday, he had always called it a holiday for the greetings card companies to get rich from, and he wondered if he was going to do something for Ariana. Iker was still remarkably smitten with the doctor and Sergio wondered if that was enough to change Iker’s ways.

Iker swallowed a mouthful of his meal before he smiled “I do have some plans, but I am not calling it Valentine’s day. Ari and I started dating exactly seven weeks ago today and I am taking her out to celebrate that” he explained with a soft smile. He’d put a lot of thought into it, their date that night, and he hoped that Ariana appreciated it. The things he had arranged were not his usual style and he hoped that Ariana was grateful for his attempts to woo her.

Sergio smiled. “Seven weeks eh?” he nudged.

Iker’s cheeks warmed a little as he nodded his head. “It was actually six, we had that week where we weren’t talking, but I still counted it. She took me back and that means, seven weeks ago today, we started dating” he explained with a little smile.

Sergio chuckled. “Look at you” he gushed “You’ve never blushed over a girl Iker, never” he noted, his hand lightly slapping Iker’s shoulder.

Iker shook his head softly and took another bite of his lunch. “I have never had a girl like Ari before Sergio. She’s amazing and I can’t believe for one second that, out of all the men in Madrid, she picked me. I am a lucky guy” he mused with a little wistful smile.

Sergio chuckled once more and patted Iker’s shoulder. He was pleased for his friend, after Sara, Sergio had severely doubted that Iker would ever find another girl, but Ariana had done wonders for him. Iker was smiling, he was joking and teasing his friends, and that was a side of him that Sergio had missed. When Sara had left, it was like she had torn that part of Iker out of him and Sergio was pleased to see it returning. Iker deserved to be happy and that was what Ariana had made him.

“Iker, why do I have to wear this?” Ariana murmured as she tugged at the blindfold that Iker had placed over her eyes. She was excited, it had been a little while since she and Iker had been out on a date, and she couldn’t wait to see what he had come up with. He’d been working tirelessly on something for days.

Iker chuckled. “Because it is a surprise Ari. I wouldn’t want to ruin it” he commented as he deftly steered his car towards their destination.

Ariana huffed. “Sometimes Iker, I really don’t like you” she muttered teasingly.

Iker laughed loudly and allowed his hand to move across the console that sat between them, wrapping around her gloved hand. “Amor, you love me and you love me all of the time” he grinned as he brushed his thumb over the woolen material of the gloves she wore. She looked beautiful, Iker always thought that she did, and as always, he was having a tough time keeping his eyes off of her. Ariana was a tease, even if she didn’t mean to be, and Iker was struggling more and more. He didn’t want to put a rush on her, giving herself up to a man for the first time was a big deal that needed a lot of thought, but that didn’t stop Iker wanting to tear off her clothes. He’d never seen the body she hid beneath them and that was a thought that drove him a little crazy.

“Iker, are we nearly there yet?” Ariana complained softly.

Iker smiled gently and steered the car into a car park. “We’re here Ari” he confirmed, his other hand gently peeling the blindfold from her eyes.

Ariana blinked a little, trying to adjust, before a small sound escaped her lips. “Iker” she squeaked, her blue eyes taking in the empty ice rink that he had driven her to.

The keeper chuckled. “I remember you saying once that you loved to skate and, whilst it isn’t exactly my thing, I thought that that was what you would want to do tonight. I’ve hired out the rink for an hour before we go to dinner” he explained with a nonchalant shrug.

Ariana’s blue eyes skipped around the setting before they landed on Iker’s, a small smile pulling at her lips. “You did this all for me?” she whispered, her usual nervous expression etched onto her face.

Iker nodded. “Of course. I wanted to make tonight a little special since it is Valentine’s Day” he muttered.

Ariana flashed him a timid smile. “It’s wonderful Iker” she breathed “Gracias” she added.

Iker shook his head and reached into the backseat, pulling out a neatly wrapped parcel. “Now, this isn’t your main present, but I thought you would like it” he commented as he placed the parcel into her hands. Ariana’s blue eyes widened. Iker had told her not to bother getting him anything, he had promised that he wouldn’t get her anything either, and it made Ariana feel bad. If she had known what he was doing, she would have made more of an effort.

“Ari, amor, please don’t pull that face. I know you haven’t gotten me anything and I don’t care. Having you smile is all I could ask for” he enthused as he nudged the parcel against her hands once more.

Ariana gripped it and pulled the paper back, revealing a Real Madrid hat and scarf set, something which made her laugh.

Iker smiled at the sound. “You like them?” he quipped.

Ariana smiled. “They’re great Iker, exactly what I would have chosen” she teased.

Iker rolled his eyes and wrapped the scarf around her neck before pulling the hat over her head. “There” he breathed “You look perfect now” he added with a coy half smile that made Ariana shake her head. “You’re a moron sometimes aren’t you?” she quipped as she leant a little closer to him. Iker smiled.

“I am your moron” he returned.

Ariana rolled her eyes before she pressed a little kiss to his lips. She still didn’t quite know how she had gotten so lucky.

“Ari” Iker breathed as he stepped into her bedroom. It had been weeks since he had first slept in her bed, but other than the odd occasion when she worked at night, Iker hadn’t slept anywhere else since. He loved holding her close and knew that Ariana did too. She often mumbled his name in her sleep and Iker loved it.

Ariana, who had been pulling off her jeans, lifted her head, peeking at him. “Iker” she teased.

The keeper rolled his eyes slightly before he stepped into the room, a box set carefully in his hand. “I thought you might want this” he mused as he edged the box towards her.

Ariana lifted her eyebrows. “I thought we were done with presents?” she murmured, her blue eyes drifting to the flowers that sat on her end table beside the hat and scarf that he had bought for her.

Iker offered her a smile and shook his head. “This one is special” he quipped, settling the box in her hands.

Ariana lifted her eyebrow slightly and moved to open it, her blue eyes widening at the sight of the stethoscope that Iker had bought for her. “It’s top of the line according to the woman I bought it from” he enthused as he watched a few loose tears appear in her eyes. “I got it engraved too” he added as he lifted it slightly, showing it offer to her. Ariana blinked a couple of times, allowing a few tears to cascade down her cheek. Iker noted the tears and set the stethoscope down, using the pad of his thumb to brush them off her cheeks. “Ari, nena, there is no need to cry” he insisted.

Ariana shook her head. “It’s just wonderful Iker, too wonderful” she murmured.

Iker smiled and kissed the side of her nose. “Nothing is too wonderful for you, mi amor” he insisted.

Ariana nodded her head before she leant up, capturing him in a warm kiss. Iker groaned softly at the feel of it and moved to tangle his fingers in her dark hair, desperately trying to stop himself reaching out and touching anywhere else. Ariana smirked a little and lowered her own hands, carefully working at the buttons on the front of his shirt, something which caused Iker to lift his eyebrow. “Ari, what are you doing?” he murmured between kisses.

Ariana shrugged. “Trying to get your shirt off” she quipped.

“I can see that” Iker replied “I was really asking why” he added.

Ariana smiled. “Because I trust you Iker” she murmured.

Iker lifted an eyebrow. “What?” he spluttered out dumbly.

Ariana shook her head before she moved up onto her toes, kissing the spot just beneath his ear. “I trust you Iker, I trust you to be kind and gentle and that is what I would like you to be the first” she breathed softly.

Iker stilled for a second, not sure he had heard right. “Did you just say that?” he breathed, a little flustered.

Ariana smirked. “I did Iker” she mused as she moved to sit down on the bed.

Iker’s eyes darkened for a second before a smirk appeared on his face.

Seven weeks had been long enough.
