Somewhere Only We Know

56: I Know You Do

Wrinkling her nose a little, Ariana let out a little groan, her head stinging a little. It was early, too early for the mother-to-be who had struggled to get to sleep the night before, but she knew that the bump wasn’t going to let her get back to sleep. Ever since the baby had started to move, she seemed to have been intent on keeping Ariana awake and it was starting to get to Ariana. All she wanted was a night where she wasn’t woken up by their little girl’s kicking. “Ari?” Iker murmured as he stretched his arm a little, wrapping it softly around her waist “Amor, are you awake again?” he mumbled as he moved to hold her close. He felt for her, Ariana was starting to struggle as she slowly approached her due date, and Iker wanted to help her, something he hadn’t figured out how to do. The baby was active, she had been kicking for weeks, and Iker hadn’t yet figured out a way to make her stop. She slowed a little when he spoke to the bump, but very rarely stopped entirely.

“Your daughter seems intent on kicking up a storm” Ariana murmured as she tried to close her eyes a little, desperately trying to find solace in sleep.

Iker sighed gently and placed his palm over her stomach, gently rubbing soothing circles into the front of the shirt she wore. “I am sure she will sleep eventually amor, she’s just an active baby, my mother said that I was the same way” he murmured as he lowered his head, kissing the bump softly.

Ariana rolled her eyes. “So it is definitely your fault then?” she muttered.

Iker flinched. It wasn’t the first time that Ariana had said something rude to him, as the bump had grown and Ariana had become more and more tired, she had been a little snippy with him, but he knew that she didn’t mean it. She was almost 8 months pregnant and he didn’t blame her for being a little ratty. Their daughter wasn’t doing much to give her mother a rest.

Ariana noted the look on his face and sighed. “I am sorry” she murmured “I am just so sleepy and this little one is not helping me get to sleep. I’ve only had about four hours and would dearly love a little more” she mumbled, her head resting heavily on the pillow. Iker sighed gently and cupped her cheek, gently brushing his thumb over her cheekbone. “I am sorry Ari, I wish there was something I could do” he mumbled.

Ariana nodded. “It’s ok” she murmured softly “I’ve only got a couple more weeks and then she will be here” she added as she gently rubbed her hand over the bump. Iker smiled a small smile and mimicked her action, gently stroking the bump. “I can’t wait to meet her” he admitted gently and he stared down at the bump. Eight months had passed quickly and Iker was sure that the last one would be the same. He couldn’t wait to meet his little girl.

Ariana smiled. “I bet she’ll look like you” she giggled as she moved to sit up a little. She clearly wasn’t going to get back to sleep and had become uncomfortable laying down.

Iker shook his head. “She’s going to look like her lovely mother. She’ll have those big blue eyes and your cute dimples” he enthused as he pressed a kiss to either side of her mouth, ensuring to kiss the dimples that existed in Ariana’s cheeks. The brunette blushed a little before she hid her face, a sight that made Iker. “You’ve not done that in months” he cooed as he placed his hand beneath her chin, pulling her brilliant blue eyes level with his “It’s cute” he added with a little shrug.

Ariana rolled her eyes softly before she noted the time, her elbow nudging Iker slightly. “Shouldn’t you be on your way to training by now?” she mused.

Iker shrugged. “They can do without me for a day. I was thinking we could have some breakfast and then we could go and do a spot of shopping for bump” he noted as he laid down slightly. It as risky, Iker’s place in Ancelotti’s plans was precarious, but he thought it was worth it. Ariana needed a little cheering up and Iker wanted to be the reason she smiled.

“Are you sure about that?” Ariana quipped “I would hate to be the reason you lost your place in the team” she commented.

Iker smiled. “I would happily sit on the bench for the next few games if it means I can put that smile back on your face. So, what do you say?” he quipped with a boyish smile.

Ariana offered him a dubious look, but smiled nevertheless, nodding her head. “That sounds wonderful” she admitted.

Iker nodded. “Then you should go and take a shower. I will set about cooking” he smiled as he pushed himself to his feet.

Ariana caught him by the wrist and pulled him back a little, pressing a soft kiss against his lips. “I love you” she breathed gently, a sense of guilt still gnawing at her for the way she had spoken to him.

Iker smiled gently and kissed her lips once more. “I know you do” he grinned “And I love you” he added.

“We should really think of a name for her before she gets here” Ariana commented as Iker led her around the fifth baby shop of the morning. They already had the basics, Iker and Sergio had spent almost a week perfecting the nursery that would be used when baby girl Casillas Costa was born, but Iker had been insistent. His little girl was going to have everything an infant could possibly want and more.

Iker, who was carrying about five bags full of clothes, smiled. “I already have one” he chirped as he moved to flicked through another rack of baby clothes. It was too much, he knew it, but he wasn’t going to stop. His little girl was going to want for nothing.

“You do?” Ariana quipped as she followed him around.

“Yup, I have had both a boy and a girl name picked out for months. I didn’t know what we were going to have so I came up with both” he explained softly as he offered her a little lopsided smile.

“What had you picked if it was a boy?” she quipped.

“Samuel” Iker returned with a little shrug “Samuel Jose Casillas Costa” he added.

“And for our little girl?” Ariana noted. She was a little amazed, Iker had seemed so fazed when she had mentioned that she was pregnant, yet there he stood, a name already picked out for the little girl that would be with them in just over four weeks.

Iker smiled and turned away from the rack of clothes, his dark eyes fixing on his wife. “Violeta” he mused.

Ariana smiled. “You picked it yourself?” she teased.

“I spent many boring plane journeys flicking through baby name books and I came up with it all by myself. Violeta Casillas Costa” he breathed with a little smile that confided just how impressed he was with himself.

Ariana smiled softly. “It’s beautiful Iker” she mused.

“I know” he teased.

Ariana shook her head. “I can’t believe you came up with this all by yourself” she teased as she turned back to the racks of baby clothes that sat around them.

Iker shook his head. “I am a very clever man, Mrs Casillas, I am capable of doing things without you watching my every step” he quipped with a teasing smile as he moved to wrap his arms around her. She had never looked more beautiful to him than she did in that moment and Iker couldn’t resist putting his hands around her. She looked perfect.

Ariana smirked. “I know, you just choose not to” she grinned.

Iker let out a small sound of indignation before he ducked down to kiss her, only to pause as someone cleared their throat. Leaning back up, he turned a little and frowned, his dark eyes fixed on the figure of his ex-girlfriend who stood behind him. “Sara” he muttered “What the heck are you doing here?” he muttered as he shifted Ariana behind him slightly.

Sara sniffed. “I…I wanted to talk to you” she stammered.

“Why?” Iker muttered.

“Because Evan’s a cheating dick” Sara replied.

“And why do I care about that?” he muttered emotionlessly.

Sara sniffled “Because you’re a good man” she whimpered.

Iker scoffed. “Not that good a man. Come on Ari” he spat as he grabbed his wife’s hand.

He wasn’t about to let Sara wander back into his life again.
