Somewhere Only We Know

64: You’ll Get Better At It

“Are you sure that you and Sergio are going to be ok on your own?” Ariana fussed as she looked down at Violeta who sat happily in her father’s arms. It was the first time that Ariana had gone out without Violeta and she was a little concerned. She knew that Iker was a natural, he had been since the second he had held Violeta for the very first time, but that didn’t allay the brunette’s fears. She didn’t want to leave the little girl, but was very aware that taking her dress shopping wasn’t an option. Pilar had been clear with her, it was to be just the two of them, no babies, no boyfriends, just them.

Iker smiled. “Of course I am sure. I love looking after her and am sure that I will be able to cope Ari. She’s four weeks old, her day consists of eating, pooping and sleeping” he enthused as he peeked down at their little girl. She was growing up quick and Iker was more than happy to spend as much time as he could with her. She wouldn’t be the baby she was then forever and Iker wanted to enjoy each and every moment of her being an infant, before long she would be talking and walking and Iker dreaded it. He already missed the days when he could easily holding her in one arm.

“You’re sure?” Ariana pressed again as Pilar appeared with her coat in her hand.

Iker nodded. “We will be fine Ari, Violeta and I will be in one piece when you get back, now go and have fun. God knows you deserve it” he encouraged with a little smile.

Ariana offered him a slightly dubious look before she reluctantly turned to Pilar, taking the jacket out of her hand. Iker smiled and stood up, pressing a soft kiss to her lips. “We will be fine Ari” he repeated softly. Ariana nodded her head before she pressed a little kiss to Violeta’s head, stepping out of the room with Pilar.

Iker watched her before he chuckled. “How hard can it be eh?” he teased with a little look down towards Violeta who cooed softly in his arms.

“You’re going to regret asking that” Sergio quipped as he looked up from the toys that he and Junior were playing with.

“I am not. She’s four weeks old Sergio, she can’t exactly run away from me” Iker teased as he sat back down with Violeta.

Sergio scoffed. “Just you wait and see” he teased.

Iker rolled his eyes. Sometimes Sergio was a little dramatic for his own good.

“How about this one?” Ariana posed as she allowed her blue eyes to stare into the mirror ahead of her. They had seen a few dresses, more than Ariana thought it would take, but she knew they were getting closer. They’d already worked out that she looked best in ivory, that lace was perfect for her and that she needed a dress that flowed, not a tight one.

“Nope” Pilar quipped from her seat “It’s too puffy. You look like you’re being transformed into a marshmallow” she added, a small smirk playing at the corner of her mouth. She was enjoying herself, it had been a while since it had been just her and Ariana, and she had missed it. Ariana was easily the best friend she had.

“You’re not helping Pilar” Ariana complained.

“I am. You don’t want to look like marshmallow do you?” the woman quipped.

Ariana shook her head. “I guess not, I just didn’t think that this would take so long. I thought I would find one easily” she murmured.

“Sadly, it is a long and painstaking process. Now, get back in there and change into the next one. If we find the perfect dress in the next hour, we can go for some lunch before we go home to the world of boyfriends and babies” she grinned. Ariana smiled in return before she trudged back into the changing room, quickly changing into the next dress.

“What about this one?” she posed as she stepped out of the changing room.

Pilar, who had turned her attention to a wedding magazine, lifted her head, a wide smile splitting across her features.

“Well?” Ariana pressed nervously.

“Looks like we might get to go to lunch after all” Pilar grinned.

“You think so?” Ariana posed, her blue eyes staring into the mirror that stood to her side.

Pilar nodded. “It’s perfect for you Ari. It’s the right colour, the right length and the right level of fluffiness. It’s the one” she enthused as she fixed the dress a little.

Ariana smiled softly, glad that she had found the right dress.

“What are the odds that Iker has burnt down part of the house?” Pilar teased as she and Ariana made their way back up towards the house. It had been a pleasant day, Ariana had enjoyed spending time with Pilar, but she was glad to be home. She trusted Iker, of course she did, but she wanted to check on him and Violeta. It was the first that Iker had been left for more than an hour with the baby and she wanted to make sure that things had been OK.

Ariana rolled her eyes. “He’s good with her, I am sure that they were fine” she mused as she placed her key in the lock, pushing the door open slightly.

“I am sure he is, but when I left Sergio and Junior alone for the first time, I came back to find Junior wide awake and crying whilst Sergio slept soundly on the couch” she teased.

Ariana rolled her eyes and stepped into the hall, her blue eyes fixed on Sergio who padded towards her. “Where are my husband and daughter?” she poked.

Sergio chuckled. “Baby one is sleeping safely in her nursery. Baby number two is asleep in the living room” he quipped.

“What?” Ariana poked.

“I put Violeta down for her nap at one just like you said to. Iker’s been asleep for almost half an hour” Sergio mused before he moved to Pilar, preparing to leave.

“Did he struggle with her?” Ariana poked.

Sergio chuckled. “He made the mistake of underestimating a baby, but he was fine when he was awake. A total natural” he assured her before he led his little family out of the house. Ariana bid them goodbye before she padded into the living room, her blue eyes settled on Iker who was sleeping soundly on the couch. He looked a mess, his shirt was splattered with milk and what Ariana could only assumed was Violeta’s spit up, but Ariana found it cute.

He looked utterly spent.

Smiling softly, she stepped towards him and pressed a kiss against his forehead, causing him to jump. “Wha?” he slurred as he sat up.

Ariana giggled. “I didn’t mean to scare you. I was just going to go upstairs” she smiled as she watched him sit up.

Iker blinked and looked around slightly before he set his eyes on his wife. “Is everything ok?” he poked.

Ariana nodded. “Sergio says Lettie is upstairs and asleep. What about you? Are you ok?” she teased with a little smile.

“She was a terror Ari” Iker exclaimed dramatically “It was like the second you closed the door, she transformed from our beautiful little princess to this demon. She kept crying and puking and…”

Ariana’s laugh cut him off.

“What?” he poked.

“She’s a baby Iker, it’s what she does” she teased with a little shrug.

“She does it for you?” he pressed.

“Yup, but you learn after the first time. I am sure that you will do better next time” she smiled.

Iker chuckled and moved to pull her into a hug only for Ariana to put her hand up. “You’re not hugging me until you’ve got on a shirt that isn’t covered in baby sick” she teased.

Iker jutted out his lower lip, offering Ariana his most convincing pout. Ariana rolled her eyes at the sight of it before she pecked his lips. “Better?” she quipped. Iker nodded and kissed her again. “Much” he mused.
