What I Did for Love

I Am Sorry

Ana was pacing up and down the Hospital Corridor, she was still wearing Marco's Jacket. The Police had questioned her, Marco had to help with the translation, then she had left for the Hospital. Even though she was told there was nothing they could do for Robert she refused to believe the Doctors, she wanted to see Robert, but they wouldn't allow that for a few days.

" Miss Davis" A female Nurse asked, walking towards Ana.

Ana looked up, hoping this was just a horrible nightmare, but the minute she looked into the Nurse's eyes, she knew Robert was really gone.

" Oh god" she muttered, as she fell against the wall, she didn't know what she was suppose to do.

" Is there anyone we can call for you?" The nurse asked.

Ana shook her head, all their family was back in New York, she would rather tell them about Robert than some stranger doing it.

" Do you need me to call a taxi for you?" The nurse asked.

Ana couldn't leave the hospital, Robert would be all by himself, they were supposed to grow old together.

" Its okay I will see that she gets back to her hotel" Marco said, he had come to the Hospital to get a check up after the accident.

Ana glared at Marco, it might not be his fault, but if his girlfriend didn't do what she did, Robert would still be here.

" I don't need your help" Ana spat at Marco.

Marco could understand Ana's anger, she had just lost the man she was going to marry because of Carolin.

" Let me see you back to your hotel at least" Marco said.

Ana shook her head, she didn't want to leave " I rather stay here" she muttered.

Marco walked towards Ana, he couldn't do anything about her pain, but the least he could do, was see her safely back to her hotel.

" You can't stay here, There is nothing more you can do" Marco said gently.

" I don't want to leave him" Ana cried.

Marco pulled Ana into his arms, to comfort her, she struggled in his embrace for a few moments, as she began to relax a little, he lead her to the exit.

Marco made sure that Ana got back to her hotel room, he couldn't imagine what she was going through. Ana paused outside her hotel room, she turned back to Marco, He had been nothing but nice to her. Yet she had verbally abused him every chance she got, for something he had no control over.

" I am sorry" she finally said.

Marco shook his head, Ana was the last person who should be apologizing.

" You have nothing to be sorry about" Marco replied.

Ana sighed as she leaned back against the wall, she was trying to brace herself for what she had to do next, calling Robert's parents, how do you tell a parent their child is dead.

" I just don't know what to feel" Ana muttered.

" Ana, you are in shock it's normal" Marco said.

" How am I suppose to tell everyone, when I refuse to believe Robert is really gone" Ana rambled.

Marco took a step closer to Ana, she shouldn't be left on her own tonight.

" Do you want me to stay with you tonight?" Marco asked, he knew they barely knew one another, but he couldn't help but feel responsible for what had happened to Robert.

" I would rather be on my own" Ana said, walking to her room door.

Marco let her go, he watched as she made her way into her room, she turned back to him and thanked him for bringing her back, then closed the door.

Marco slowly made his way out of the hotel, he would make sure to check on Ana tomorrow. Pulling his Phone out, he called Carolin's Lawyer wanting to make sure that she would punished for what she did.

" Any Updates?" Marco asked rather rudely, he wasn't in the mood to be nice.

" Carolin is not getting charged" Graham replied.

Marco was shocked at what he was hearing, she had killed a man how was she getting away with it.

" Why?" Marco demanded.

" The police have ruled it as an accident" Graham sighed, he had read Marco's statement and knew the footballer wouldn't be happy with this.

" Did they bother to read my statement, Carolin caused that accident." Marco hissed angrily.

" It's your word against hers Marco" Graham said.

" I can't believe this" Marco muttered.

" You need to come and see Carolin, she is a wreck" Graham said, Carolin was refusing to talk to anyone till she spoke with Marco.

" I don't need to do anything, she is on her own we are done" Marco spat before he hung up on the lawyer, there was noway he would forgive Carolin for this.

Ana splashed some water on her face, this just felt like one horrible Nightmare, only difference was she wasn't dreaming this one. Drying her face with a towel, she walked over to the bed, she reached for her phone. Ana didn't want to do this, but everyone needed to know, she had to call Robert's parents first. scrolling down to their number she pressed call and waited for them to pick up.

" Hi Ana" Beth said happily, Ana closed her eyes at the happiness in Beth's Voice, in a couple of minutes that Happiness would be completely gone and in it's place so much pain.

" Hi Beth, is Frank there?" she asked.

" Yes he is sitting beside me" Beth replied, not picking up the coldness in Ana's voice.

" You might want to put me on loud speaker" Ana suggested.

" Okay Honey" Beth said, wondering what was going on.

" I have some news to share" Ana said, she was feeling sick, she was about to break Robert's parents hearts.

" Are you pregnant?" Beth gushed, she couldn't wait to be a grandparent.

" No, There has been an accident tonight" Ana said.

" What sort of accident?" Frank asked.

" I am so sorry" Ana whispered, she couldn't find the words to tell them.

" You are scaring me Ana, what is going on?" Beth asked.

Ana breathed in deeply, she had to tell them. " Robert was hit by a car, earlier this evening" Ana rushed out.

" Robert is okay right?" Frank asked.

" I am so sorry, there was nothing the medics could do, Robert died at the scene" Ana replied.

Ana listened as Beth completely broke down, hearing her pain, made Ana almost lose it again.

Frank asked a few more question's, Ana told him what she knew he seemed to accept it and told her they would call her tomorrow,Then he hung up on her. "One to down, one to go" she muttered as she called her parents.

Ana's parents didn't answer their phone, so she left a message asking them to call her back. Placing her phone on the bed, Ana stared down at her engagement ring. They had been so happily only a few hours before and now that was cruelly ripped away from her. She was all alone in a strange city and with no one to comfort her, walking over to the Mini bar, she grabbed a few bottles of alcohol. Ana couldn't deal with the pain so she choose the easy way out by getting drunk. At least for a few hours, she could forget tonight had ever happened.
