Don't Let Me Jump, Don't Let Me Fall

Chapter 1: The Winter

Winter is always the worst.
People just get so sad.
Amber jumped in winter.
Jack finds it difficult to stay level headed.
But he does.
He knows he's saving people, that's enough to keep him strong.

He needed to be extra careful today.
He knew it.
December 8th, 2016.
He could sense the danger.
The sea breeze had turned into a nasty wind over the past couple of days and it was a it's peak.
Someone was going to jump tonight.

---

'Excuse me Sir, could you step back?' Jack says softly as he approaches the man standing on the cliff edge, ready to lunge forward if he needs to grab him.
The man turns around and smiles sadly.
'I knew you'd be here. What do they call you? The Cliff Angel?' He says, stepping away and looking at Jack,
'Yes Sir, what's your name?' Jack asks,
'Rian.' The man sighs,
'Hi Rian, do you wanna tell me about why you're standing on the cliff edge at half 11 at night? It's dark and cold Rian, you should be at home.' Jack says quietly, reaching out and gripping onto Rian's wrist, pulling him further away from the edge,
'I was gonna jump. I won't lie. But there was also a part of me praying you'd see me.' Rian explains and Jack smiles softly,
'You don't want to die. You hoped I'd see you because your brain is telling you that you don't want to go through with this. And honestly Rian, you don't. Life is so, so beautiful and even if things are tough, you can pull through, honestly you can.' Jack says and Rian nods,
'Thank you. I think that's what I needed to hear.' He whispers and Jack smiles,
'Can I trust you to get home safe?' He asks and Rian laughs softly and nods,
'Okay, I'm gonna give you this and I want to you to ring me when you're home. You can also ring me whenever you need help, okay?' Jack says, handing Rian one of his business cards,
'Thank you.' The young man smiles and hugs Jack quickly.

Jack can't help but smile.
That's another life he's saved.
