Say You Don’t Want It

Twenty-Five: She’s The One

“Papi?” Junior squeaked as he padded into his father’s bedroom. It was early, the little boy had woken up by a noise outside of his window, and now he was awake he wanted to see Alexis. It had been days, Junior couldn’t remember the last time he had seen the blonde woman, and he knew that his father would know where she was. She hadn’t been around as much in the last week and Junior missed her. “Papi, I want to see Lexi” he added as he padded further into the room, his little hand tugging at the blanket which over hung the mattress “Papi” he whimpered.

Cristiano sighed a little and turned over. “Lexi isn’t here Junior” he murmured, his brown eyes peeking down at the little boy. It had been a week, seven long days since Cristiano had even seen Alexis, let alone spoken to her, and it was safe to say that he missed her. It was his own fault, he had been the one who had made the mistake, but that didn’t mean he was handling it all that well. He missed her, more than he had missed any of his exes before her, and he wanted nothing more than to have her back, even if it was just for a night, he just wanted to hold her once more.

“I want Lexi” Junior grumbled, his little arms folding over his chest.

“She’s not here” Cristiano murmured.

“Why?” Junior pressed “She’s been gone forever” he added dramatically.

Cristiano sighed gently. “I am sorry” he murmured “But papi did something really silly and now Lexi isn’t talking to him. I am very sorry, but I don’t think she is coming back” he explained gently. He doubted the little boy would understand, he wasn’t very old and had a limited understanding of what was happening around him, but Cristiano didn’t want to get his hopes up. Alexis hadn’t responded to any of the messages that he had sent to her and he wasn’t holding his breath. Alexis had been clear with him and he doubted that anything he did or said would change her mind.

Junior looked up at his father and shook his head. “I want Lexi” he muttered.

Cristiano shook his head. “I am sorry” he repeated gently, sitting up.

Junior sighed a little before he padded out of the door, bumping into Dolores who looked at her son sadly. She felt for him, Cristiano had been smitten with Alexis and looked miserable now that she was gone, but Dolores didn’t want to fill her son with false hope. Alexis was well within her rights to end things, what Cristiano had done had been stupid and she didn’t want to tell him any different. It was unlikely that Alexis was going to change her mind and Cristiano merely needed to accept it.

“He’s going to cry about that” Dolores murmured.

Cristiano sighed. “What can I do? Alexis isn’t going to come here, not if I am here and he needs to get over it. I already said that I was sorry” he muttered.

“He liked her” Dolores added.

Cristiano scoffed. “He wasn’t the only one” he muttered with a bitter laugh.

“Have you spoken to her?” Dolores asked softly.

“She won’t give me the time of day, not that I blame her. I was an ass and I deserved to get dumped” he muttered as he moved towards his dresser, trying to find a shirt.

Dolores watched him and sighed gently. “I called Aliyah” she mused gently. She didn’t want to cause trouble, Cristiano was clearly still reeling from having Alexis end their six month relationship, but she had just been curious. She wanted to know if there was anything that he could do to convince Alexis that he had done what he had done for the right reasons, and not because he had been being selfish.

Cristiano stiffened. “Why did you do that?” he muttered “Do you not think I can look after myself or take care of my own relationships?” he sneered, his eyes landing on his mother.

“I was just trying to help” Dolores replied “You’ve done nothing but mope since Alexis ended things and I wanted to see if there was anything you could do” she added.

“Mae, I already know that there is nothing” Cristiano replied softly, his voice heavy with a sigh.

Dolores shook her head. “She was the best thing you had” she muttered “Why the heck did you wreck it?” she added.

“Because I am a fuck-up” Cristiano murmured “Because I was so insecure, that I never even contemplated that Alexis would talk to me about the job, I just assumed she would take it and leave me here all alone, which is now ironic because in not telling her, I lost her anyway. She couldn’t look at me, Mae, she couldn’t take my apology and now I am alone and miserable again and she is probably on her way to Paris or Manchester because Hector hooked her up” he grumbled.

“Aliyah said she delayed the meeting” Dolores commented, causing Cristiano to look up at her, his brown eyes a little more hopeful.

“What?” he murmured.

“Hector wanted to set it up for the day after you two broke up, but Alexis told him to wait” Dolores commented “Perhaps, there is still hope for you” she suggested gently. It was going to take work, Alexis wasn’t going to take him back lightly, but she could tell it was what Cristiano needed to hear. He was miserable, everyone had noticed, and it was no surprise to Dolores. Cristiano had had girlfriends before, but Alexis was something else. She had challenged him, kept him on his toes, and Dolores knew that Cristiano loved her because of it. She was the one for her son and she could tell that he needed to be given some hope, even if his attempts to win her back were futile.

He just needed to know that it wasn't impossible, just improbable.

Cristiano sighed. “Mae, she won’t take my calls” he murmured.

“Then don’t call” Dolores mused, gently brushing her hand over his cheek in a motherly fashion “Make a gesture, make loads of gestures, do whatever it takes Cristiano, because that girl isn’t just another ex. She’s the one you are meant to end up with” she noted.

“How do you know?” Cristiano murmured.

“Because I can see it in your eyes. They’ve gone all dull now that Alexis is gone and they used to shine, just for her. You can’t give up, Cristiano” she mused.

“I don’t know what to do” he admitted “She’s not going to be won over like most girls” he added.

Dolores smiled and kissed his forehead. “You’ll think of something. Alexis used to rave about the surprises you made for her” she smiled.

Cristiano smiled at his mother and nodded.

He was going to think of something.
