Say You Don’t Want It

Twenty-Nine: Take It From The Top

Staring up at the ceiling above her, Alexis sighed, not quite sure what to do with herself. It had been a couple of days since she had had coffee with Cristiano but still Alexis wasn’t sure that she had made the right call. She was upset, what Cristiano had done to her had been selfish even if he had done it for the right reasons, but she was even more upset now that he wasn’t around. She knew that it was her own doing, if she just called him and asked to give them another go then he would jump at the chance, but still she remained uncertain. She was happy when she was with him, but she didn’t want him thinking that he could make decisions for her. She didn’t want him thinking that she depended on him for too much.

“Lexi?” Aliyah poked, her head peeking around the door.

“Huh?” Alexis replied.

“Cristiano is in the living room” Aliyah sighed “He’s got a bag, he wanted to give you your things back” she added tentatively. She felt for Alexis, the blonde was clearly struggling with the decision she had made, but she felt more for Cristiano. He looked dreadful, even if he was trying to hide it, and Aliyah knew it came down to his relationship break up with Alexis. He clearly regretted what he had done and was desperate for a second chance with the blonde who had clearly captured his heart.

Alexis rolled onto her side. “He’s here?” she posed.

“Living room” Aliyah noted “I am going to give you two a moment” she added before she stepped across the hall, closing her own bedroom door with an audible thump. Alexis laid still for a second before she willed herself to her feet, collecting a jumper of Cristiano’s that she had taken to wearing since they had broken up. Peeking in her mirror, she ran a tired hand through her hair before she padded into the living room, her stomach flipping at the mere sight of her ex-boyfriend.

“You wanted to see me?” she squeaked.

Cristiano, who had been staring aimlessly around the room, turned to face her. “I thought you would want you stuff back from my place” he noted with a small gesture towards the bag that was sat at his feet “I didn’t think you would come and get it, so I bought back to you” he added.

Alexis smiled at him briefly. “Thank you” she noted.

Cristiano placed his hands in his pocket. “You’re welcome” he noted awkwardly.

Alexis noted the tone of his voice and sighed, dropping her stare away from him. “Cris, I am sorry” she murmured.

Cristiano frowned. “What are you sorry for Lexi?” he posed, stepping towards her a little “You made a call based on your feelings, I am not going to expect you to say sorry for that” he added, his hands gently setting on her upper arms. He could see she was upset and wanted to comfort her, regardless of whether he was her boyfriend or not, he didn’t like the idea of Alexis being upset.

“I know, but you look miserable and I hate that” she murmured, her blue eyes peeking up at him tentatively.

Cristiano shrugged. “Lexi, I will learn to get over it” he mused softly “But right now, it is fresh, you know? We’ve been broken up for coming up on two weeks and I am still adapting to not seeing you every day, it is going to take time for me to not look like this” he explained.

Alexis shook her head. “I don’t want you to be miserable because of me” she noted.

Cristiano sighed. “Lexi, I am not just going to get over this” he noted gently “I love you” he added.

Alexis let the words linger for a moment before she looked at her feet. “What if I didn’t want you to get over it?” she posed.

Cristiano frowned. Just days ago she had been sure that she wanted to end things and he didn’t see what had changed. He had still done what he had done and he hadn’t expected that Alexis could change her mind about she had decided. Things were still the same. “What?” he murmured.

“What if I changed my mind?” she muttered.

Cristiano sighed and dropped a little kiss onto her forehead. “You’re confused, Lexi, me and you breaking up coincided with the whole job thing and now you feel rejected. Your feelings about us are still the same” he murmured gently.

Alexis shook her head. “I am not asking to jump back into us, Cristiano” she noted “But perhaps I was rash” she noted.

Cristiano looked down at her. “You regret breaking up with me?” he posed.

Alexis shrugged. “I don’t know” she murmured “But I do know that I miss you and that when you left the coffee shop the other day, I instantly wondered if I had made the right call. You’re amazing, even if you did do something completely idiotic, and I don’t know what I want for us. I don’t know if I want to be with you or whether I want you away from me” she admitted tentatively.

Cristiano shook his head. “You’re confusing” he teased gently, a crooked smile on his lips.

“I am confused” Alexis noted.

Cristiano smiled and dropped another kiss onto her head. “How about this, we take things slowly, start from the beginning again and do it right this time. I won’t be a dick and you don’t have to end things. We can try” he smiled softly, his fingers gently brushing her blonde hair away from her bright blue eyes.

Alexis chewed on her lip for a second. “You’d be OK with that?” she posed softly.

Cristiano smiled gently and nodded his head. “Of course I would be, Alex, it means that I would be around you again. I just want to try, to fix things and make sure that you are happy. Do you think we could do that?” he asked softly.

Alexis peeked up at him. “We’ll take it from the top?” she posed.

Cristiano nodded. “We’ll take it as slowly as you want to. What do you say?” he quipped.

Alexis thought for a second before she nodded. “I think I could do that” she murmured.

Cristiano smiled and leant down, kissing her cheek softly.

He just wanted a shot at getting it right again.
