I'm the Last One That You'll Ever Remember

Chapter 100: Move On

Life had completely changed for Frank…and quite dramatically in fact. He moved himself and his three children across the country from their family and set up shop in Washington State without knowing a single soul there. Naturally of course, him and his mother took the move the hardest…well, mainly his mother. She had never been without her son, and he without her. It took this big move for Frank to realize how bad of a mama’s boy he was and frankly it was too embarrassing to even think about let alone in the privacy of his own room sometimes. Despite all the emotional weeping before he left on both his end and his mother, Frank missed his parents terribly. Throughout his entire life, they’ve always had his back whenever he needed them, and now he didn’t have that support system so readily at hand anymore. Instead, he had his mother’s acquaintances that also worked within the law, including the local law enforcements, to keep a good eye on him and drop in to check up on him and the kids every other day just to make sure everyone was getting along fine. It used to be an everyday occurrence until both he and his many ‘watchers’ agreed that his mother was being overly protective and that they should just reduce these short checkups and visits to text messages and calls instead.

Frank sighed from where he stood in his large living room and glanced around at the home his mother had insisted on purchasing for him. It was a 4,160ft house with 4 beds and 4 baths that retailed at $1,467,408. The property was in a heavily gated community with top of the line security teams and gadgets. His neighbor’s houses weren’t as close to him like in his parent’s neighborhood, but they were easily visible from a distance and mostly kept to themselves which Frank appreciated. As lonely as he was out here, the last thing Frank wanted was a horde of nosy neighbors wondering where the mother of his children were or if he needed help in finding a new mother for them. He appreciated the idea of being a bit isolated from others, but also having neighbors close enough that if something happened he could run over to their place for help.

His parents both didn’t like the idea of him having any privacy at all. In fact, they kept trying to convince him to get an attached house to share a wall with a neighbor who would look out for him. Frank would literally be able to hear his neighbor’s every move and they too with him and his kids, plus his children wouldn’t have a big enough yard to play with their massive toys gifted to them by their grandparents. No, this house would have to do for his family for now until he wished to move along someplace else in the future.

Until Frank gotten himself a job, his parents were insistent on overseeing all payments of the house which he didn’t try to argue against. He had no money to support his children and so was gracious to receive his parent’s wire money even across the country. The subject of getting not only a job, but starting a whole career came to his mind several times since the move while his children were occupied with their toys, or napping. There was an opening down at a music shop that sold headphones, amps, musical equipment and CDs that he managed to nab in the meantime while thinking of a long-term career path. If he got involved with law his mother would definitely help him out, but he wasn’t sure arguing was something he felt passionate about like his mother who discovered that it was a gift of hers she had in high school. According to family members and friends that knew her then she was nightmare to be around with before she went into law because she’d constantly argue over everything, no matter how big or small. His dad would say if it wasn’t for her good looks, he’d have dumped her and moved on with another woman long ago to save himself the headache.

Frank smiled at that joke as he wandered over to the beautiful windows overlooking the nicely-kept neighborhood and beautiful scenery outside. If the law was not a career path he wanted to do than perhaps he might get into medical like this father? He wasn’t certain what specific part in the medical field he’d wish to strive for but the idea of being a nurse didn’t sound so bad. Frank tapped his finger to his chin in thought. Perhaps it would be something to consider…

Beep Beep Beep

Spinning around, Frank felt his heart lodge straight up into his throat as he stared apprehensively at his phone sitting on the table stand beside the couch. Next to the phone sat a pregnancy stick…that alarm was ringing to signal the results for that very same pregnancy stick. Feeling his face grow warm with embarrassment, Frank walked over to the table stand cautiously. He didn’t want to look at the stick to see if the reason he’s been throwing up every morning had to do what he thought it had because it would only add to the narrative stereotypical behavior of a stupid irresponsible teenager! He’d been pregnant two times before and so he knew what the results would say without having to even check because he’s already suffered through these symptoms before…but the hope in his heart that argued against that likely possibility won him over. Picking up the stick, Frank’s hazel eyes caught sight of the little symbol that would tell him he wasn’t preg-

Oh, never mind, he was pregnant again! Letting out a disappointed graon, Frank closed his eyes and set the test back down.

He was pregnant again with another child!

“Oh my god, how stupid can I continue to fucking be!?” Frank mumbled to himself as he rubbed his face with both hands. That night with Poison…he never told him to wear a condom, but then again, he also wasn’t certain the older man would have listened to him if he had.

Poison.

Gerard.

He hadn’t thought of those names in a long time…at least outside of masturbating. It hurt too much to think of the poor boy that had gotten his heart broken by him, and the man who walked in and out of his life only to have mind-blowing sex with him and then leave him filled with a whole damn baby. I mean what was Frank supposed to do before? Take the chance by telling his kidnapper about his kids and that he’s capable of getting pregnant? And then what? Filled with disgust, the man could have tied Frank up and killed him and his children one at a time. His children were innocents in this game...no, in THAT game. No longer will Frank tango with that man, NEVER again! The next time that man decided to cross paths with him…that is IF he could even find him, Frank would deal with him once and for all…

A baby. Another baby to add to the other three he already had.

“Jesus Christ, we’re talking about baby #4!” Frank whined, plopping down onto his couch, his eyes turning sad.

He had to support four kids now! All of this happened because Frank couldn’t open his mouth and tell Detective Frost and Detective Drebin what his kidnapper truly looked like so they could hunt Poison down and put him behind bars. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t bring himself to give the sketch artist a reliable description of his baby daddy’s feature that he’d was able to see.

Frank was certain he would have been able to have been transparent to the cops at the time if he hadn’t been pregnant with the twins. If that hadn’t happened, he would have been singing like a canary in that police station for everyone to hear. But no, he had gone ahead and had his twins with that man and as a result Poison’s identity will remain a secret for the rest of his life. Even the blood samples taken from his children and the evidence from his rape kits wouldn’t let anything up as to who this man was. It was as if Poison didn’t even exist in the world and was completely made up. Frank wouldn’t be lying if he said he hadn’t heard that rumor started by law enforcement about Poison being a ghost once before in the past, but his parents along with the detectives got that tale shut down pretty fast before it could gain publicity and make Frank look like a liar with murderous intentions towards his own friends.

A vibration buzzed in the air, catching Frank’s attention back to his phone. Leaning forward, he reached out to pick up his phone and investigate. He had received a text message from an unknown number. Frowning, Frank checked his inbox to read the message before letting out a frightened gasp and dropping the phone down onto his lap.

I’m coming for you.

Nearly hyperventilating with fear, Frank shook his head in denial and squeezed his eyes shut to count to ten. When he felt slightly calmer, he opened his eyes to look down at the message, expecting it to be him hallucinating…only he wasn’t. The message was right there, threatening him. Only one person came to mind that could have sent him such a terrifying message.

Poison.

My god, he had found him! How was that possible? His parents, his family, hell the entire law enforcement in the state of New Jersey knew his location but kept it hushed in order to protect him. They all swore by it, and now look, Poison has found him again!

Another vibration erupted this time on his lap. Frank let out a small gasp in surprise before picking up his phone in his trembling hand and reading the next message.

What’s your address, man?
I’m not familiar with this neighborhood, could you help me out?
Oh, and I was thinking we could go out for Pizza before the movie starts, sounds good?

“Oh, thank god!” Frank collapsed back into the couch with relief. It wasn’t Poison texting him it was one of his co-workers Barry Morgan. They had become fast friends and Barry had just gone through a bad breakup and had, oddly enough, asked Frank out to dinner that very same day. Frank accepted but only as friends. He wasn’t certain he’d want to ever date Barry because the man jumped from one relationship to another 7 times in the first week Frank started working at the Music Shop. Tonight, was their ‘date’, a dinner and movie. Quickly typing back, Frank agreed to pizza and gave him the address to his place and some helpful tips to get there too because it was a tricky place to find.

Barry might not be the man for him, but Frank was certain that man was out there and that he’d find him soon. Of course, before he found him Frank wanted to make sure his past and all it’s discrepancy would be left behind in the past as well. In order to move on, Frank would have to forget ever meeting Poison, and Gerard…and tonight that starts now.
