I'm the Last One That You'll Ever Remember

Chapter 103: Mask!?

“That movie was HILARIOUS!” Barry Morgan, Frank’s co-worker, whooped as he entered Frank’s home after him and closed the door. “I mean, my god, Deadpool is the best superhero out there!”

Frank gave him a casual shrug as he slipped out of his coat, hung it up, and chucked his wallet and keys in a small bowl on the table by his door. He wasn't concern as to the whereabouts of his cousin at the moment because he'd most likely be found past out in his bed what with how late it was. “I wouldn’t exactly label him a superhero, but neither is he a supervillain. I think it all depends on the storyline he’s in.”

“Either way, the film is the best in the movie industry right now.” Barry reiterated with a grin.

Frank giggled and led the way into his kitchen, not noticing the figure sitting in the loveseat in his living room in the dark observing them closely. “Whatever. Would you like a drink?”

“I’d love one, thank you.” Barry said while his eyes follow Frank’s plump behind swaying as he walked.

Entering the kitchen, Frank headed towards his fridge and pulled out a beer. “My cousins got me this six pack when I first moved in as a welcome home present and…well, I haven’t had any of it yet.”

Barry reached out a hand to the offered beverage and takes it with a wink. “Thanks, cutie.”

Frank rolled his eyes and grabbed himself a cup of water instead. He was never one for alcohol and had seen and done some crazy things in the past with his friends before, but it was never something he sought out for by himself. He wasn’t a drinker per se, but he did drink occasionally. “If you don’t mind me asking, what are you going to do about Carter, Chloe and Garett? Are you gonna keep jumping back and forth between the three of them or make a final choice?”

With a sigh, Barry thought back to his big soap opera of a life and all the people he has been stringing along in what they thought was a fully committed relationship. He had to take a seat for this one. “That’s a hard question to answer, darling, it truly is.”

Frank took a seat next to his co-worker at his kitchen bar and stared at him him inquisitively. Earlier that night, after rejecting his intimate advances while sitting in Barry’s car in his own driveway, Frank had somehow got his co-worker to talk about his past relationships to distract him from making another attempt. All night he ranted away about the millions of people he’s been with before, and at first it was getting annoying to Frank, but soon enough he was more enthralled by his many conquests than the Deadpool movie they were watching. They were so interesting and ridiculously irresistible that Frank demanded Barry to come inside his house solely to hear more about it which was why they were both sitting in his kitchen. Yes, it was THAT engaging. “Maybe if you talked it out some more you’ll find your answers. Seriously, my ears are wide open, dude, I got your back! Feel free to chat away.”

And so, Barry went off on another rant that greatly entertained Frank so greatly he made him continue on even when he got up to rummage in his walk-in pantry nearby for some snacks to nibble on. Barry was getting onto last week’s conquest, a woman named Asya, when he noticed a figure standing in the entryway of the kitchen. With a frown, Barry turned his head to see a pale man dressed all in black with cherry red hair wearing…oddly enough, a yellow mask on. Confused as to who this person was because Frank told him he lived alone, Barry’s eyes darted between a unaware Frank and the unknown male’s penetrating stare. A cold chill went down Barry’s spine and spread throughout his body as he stumbled off of his stool chair and faced what looked to be an actor from one of the Purge horror films. “U-Um, excuse me, but....w-who are you…”

“Huh?” Frank mumbled back in thought, thinking his guest was speaking to him from outside his huge pantry. His eyes were scanning his options of snacks in contemplation.

“…and why are you wearing a mask?” Barry finished, not hearing Frank’s response from within the pantry.

Mask?

Just like that, Frank’s entire body froze in place, the snacks that were cradled in his arms now falling to the floor. Mask, he repeated to himself in his head as he turned his head to stare out the pantry door where he could see Barry slowly stepping away his chair while facing the doorway of the kitchen. Just by the tension in his shoulders Frank could tell something was wrong and that someone was standing in the entry way of the kitchen.

It couldn’t be…

“I’m your worst fucking nightmare...” A dark voice answered.

No, there was no way in hell…

Closing his eyes and sending a silent prayer upwards, Frank stepped out of his pantry to confirm that Barry was staring at the figure of…his kidnapper! Of course, he recognized that menacing voice from anywhere, it was practically imprinted in his heart. “Shit!”

Bolting out of his pantry, Frank was stopped in his track before he could get to shielding Barry with his own body by a single hard look from Poison that froze his feet into place. He couldn’t believe it that his kidnapper was back! How could he have found him so fast? He moved across the country and the man still follow him!? Frank’s lips parted at the sight of the familiar cherry head, and tall muscular form concealed beneath tight black clothing. He blamed the quickening of his chest rising and falling to the panic of wishing to protect his co-worker from the wrath of his murderous kidnapper and not because red had become the color that caught his eyes every time he saw it in and out of public. “Y-You found me…?”

Poison ignored his beloved’s breathless question and instead turned his attention to a trembling Barry who was trying to appear confident. “I’ll begin by coming for you and grabbing a hold of your neck with both hands…then I’ll squeeze slowly until you can’t suck in even the tiniest of breaths. Once you’ve lost your strength and sink to the ground on your knees, I’ll let you go to grab a hold of me as I beat your face in until the front of your skull is shattered by the force of my knuckles. Whether you’re dead or not by then, I’ll tie you up by your wrist high enough off the ground where I can take one of my knives and skin you alive while we become better acquainted with one another.” Poison tilted his head to the side a bit, his hands fisted at his sides. “Or perhaps you should be alive for that after all. It’s an interesting process to watch, trust me.”

“W-What…I…” Barry stammered in horror, looking between a sinister Poison and a bewitched Frank. Not knowing whether this was some kind of sick joke on Frank’s part or what, Barry decided it would probably be in his best interest to head on home. “I-I think I’ll...take my leave now. Excuse me.”

Tentatively, Barry stepped near Poison but kept a safe enough distance out of his reach. Poison’s original intention was to actually become the man’s worst nightmare like he described, but now that he was leaving by choice…should he still kill him? Probably not. Something told him Frank cared about the man and would have a temper tantrum if he filet him like a fish in his home. With a reluctant sigh, Poison stepped aside to allow Barry to leave the premises. He said nothing as the terrified man raced past him.

“Barry, wait!” Frank called after his co-worker after he woke up from the trance Poison somehow put him in with just one look and noticed him heading out of the kitchen. Hurrying on after him, Frank was stopped by Poison reaching out to block his way with an arm. Shooting his kidnapper a murderous glare that only turned him on, Frank ducked down beneath his arm and ran after his friend. “Wait, Barry, you don’t understand! H-He’s my…my babysitter! He was probably playing with the kids before putting them to bed and has a habit of getting too into character when he’s being the monster! He didn’t mean any of it!”

“No, it’s fine, Frank.” Barry assured him in a frantic rush as he reached the front door and yanked it open. “I’ll uh see you at work Monday.”

“No, don’t, please!Just let me expl-” Frank called after him right before the door slammed shut in his face.

SLAM

And just like that his co-worker Barry Morgan was gone. Frank’s arms dropped to his side as he stared at the door in defeat. He really liked Barry in a totally platonic way. Yes, the man was pretty damn good looking for his own good but he wasn’t faithful and had no desire to be in a committing relationship which made his love life so juicy and exciting to hear about. Frank wasn’t at all interested in a person that wouldn’t be faithful to him and only him, so the idea of ever being with Barry never crossed his mind or became something he wished to peruse anyway. Barry was a good person and had the most entertaining stories to tell, he didn’t deserve the treatment he got from Poison.

Speaking of Poison.

Frank’s head snapped around to glare murderously at Poison who now stood behind him, looking down into his eyes. No wonder Barry kept running front him like he too meant to cause him hard, it was because all the while he literally had a murderer following his every step!

But that was all going to change now! No longer will Poison control him or his life. Frank had three kids that needed him to put them first and currently a fourth on the way. He couldn’t keep playing these ridiculous games with Poison, and so tonight it was finally going to end! Whatever happens Poison wasn’t going to let him go so easily which means that only one of them would make it out of this house alive.
