I'm the Last One That You'll Ever Remember

Chapter 61: Don't Be A Stranger

The very next day after confessing to his parents about his developing feelings for Gerard the babysitter, Frank was driving his car that was given to him on his 16th birthday by his parents to his Aunt and Uncle’s house in excitement at seeing his three favorite people. As his mind began to wander back to the conversation that he has with his parents last night at the dinner table, an eruption of nervous butterflies burst forth within his stomach at the thought of telling Gerard that he had a crush on him. His parents were clearly rooting for him to do so considering the way they were behaving this morning before he left the house. Every time they spotted him they would taunt him by calling out to him to go and confess his feelings to ‘this Gerard fellow’. At first it was only his mother that was harassing him about it, but somehow she convinced his dad to get in on it too. Frank believed that his parents thought that they knew him very well, and that no matter how much they badgered him to do it, he’d never gain the courage to tell Gerard how he felt. Normally, his parents would be right at predicting his thoughts and behavior, but this time Frank wasn’t so sure that they were correct on this one simply because his mind was actually mulling over the idea of telling Gerard that he liked him.

Before Frank could get to questioning himself, his turned the corner onto his Aunt and Uncle’s street and caught sight of something that his eyes widening in disbelief. Parked in the driveway was his Uncle’s car. Frank’s foot drifted off the gas pedal as he watched Gerard help his Aunt Edith and Uncle Peter with getting their bags out of the trunk of the car. The little amount of excitement Frank had been feeling before had faded away at the sight of his relatives. It wasn’t that he disliked his Aunt Edith or Uncle Peter at all, in fact he adored them, it was just he was hoping he and Gerard would have some more time to be alone before they got home. Shrugging it off, Frank parked his car along the curb. All three of the people unpacking the car looked up as Frank exited his car, and headed toward them with his hands in his pocket.

“Oh Frankie, dear!” Edith rejoiced as she hurried over to him across the lawn, and wrapped her arms around him, her husband not too far behind. “I missed you so much my darling! It’s so sweet of you to take the time to come by to see us on your day off.”

Frank hugged her back just as tightly, but before he could get a word out Peter came at him when his Aunt stepped back and wrapped him into a bear hug that knocked the breathe out of him. “There’s my little nephew!” He placed Frank down to allow him to breathe again, then and placed a hand on his shoulders. “I’m so glad you came by, Frankie-boy. But I’m sorry to say that the twins are still napping right now. Of course, if you decide to stick around they’ll be up very soon.”

“Sure, I have all the time in the world to spare when it comes to those two.” Frank told them with a grin before he tilted his head to the side a little to see past his Uncle’s arm that Gerard was pulling the last of the luggage out of the car, all the while looking him at him. Something about the way he was staring at him so intensely made Frank shiver all over. Turning his attention back to his Aunt and Uncle, Frank lowered his voice into a whisper as he changed the subject to the babysitter. “So uh, is Gerard heading out after this?”

Edith nodded. “Unfortunately, yes. I did offer him to stay for lunch for all that sweet boy has done for us and the twins, but he declined saying he had something else he had to get to, an appointment I think. Either way, he is very determined on getting to it on time.”

Frank nodded slowly with a heavy sigh. “I see. Would it be too much to ask if I can speak to him privately before he leaves?”

“Privately? About what?” Peter questioned him, being nosy.

Frank’s Aunt Edith came to his rescue by smacking her husband on the arm, and scolding him for asking such a thing. “Peter, will you stop being so nosy and leave the poor boy alone! Can’t you see he’s finally made a friend, and simply wishes to ‘hang’ with him as these young generation call it? Come now, help me carry the last of the bags inside, and leave these young boys alone.”

“Oh, alright woman.” Peter chuckled as the three of them began to head over to Gerard who was shutting the trunk of their car, and now reaching for the last of their bags to bring them inside. “Don’t worry about that, Mr. Way! We can take care of those. Just relax yourself now, and of course thank you for all you’ve done for us.”

Frank watched as his Aunt and Uncle give Gerard a bunch of hugs, praises and kisses (his aunt) before the two of them picked up their bags, and headed for their front door. He had no idea how hard he was anxiously wringing his fingers until his relatives had disappeared into the house and he caught sight of how red his fingers now were. “Sorry about that. My Aunt can be overly friendly sometimes.”

Gerard managed a nod despite how tense his body had become at being so close to Frank again. God, how much he wanted to reach out and touch him… “Don’t worry about it. It’s fine.”

The two lapse into an awkward silence until Frank forced himself to swallow his anxiety down so he could make room for as much as social skills as he could remember having. “S-So…is this…it?”

Once again giving him a nod, Gerard kept his eyes reverted away from Frank’s face. “It is.” As rude as it may seem, Gerard just wanted to get the heck out of dodge and away from Frank so he could perfect the last of his plan. He couldn’t concentrate being around the young boy, and so finishing his plan would be damn near impossible if he decided to stick around.

“O-Oh.” Frank lowered his eyes to his feet as he felt sadness bring his mood down. He had to think of a way to make this work out. He didn’t want to lose Gerard, not now, especially not now. He needed him, more than he’d ever know, and it wasn’t just because he had a crush on him. It was simply because he had no one else, but his family to talk to and…well, his parents wouldn’t really like some of the things he had to say. “Well…c-can’t we at least be friends still?”

Gerard’s body immediately froze. They couldn’t be friends, and Gerard damn well knew it. His brain scrambled to think of a good excuse as to why they couldn’t ever be friends without touching on the truth of it, but then Frank started talking again. “Look, I apologize in advance for what I’m about to say if it makes you feel uncomfortable, but I have to be honest with you. I don’t have any friends, not since the last ones were taken.” Frank paused for a moment when he felt his heart restrict at the mention of his friends, before continuing on. “I really have trouble making friends since I’ve been back. You have been the only friend I’ve been able to make since…what happened to me. I don’t mean to put all this pressure on you, but I don’t want to lose you, Gerard. God, you have no idea how nice, and easy it’s been just to be able to be myself around someone, and express myself without worrying if I’d get in trouble for it. Not mention it’s also nice that you’re potty-trained and know how to actually talk.”

Despite how much hard his heart was pounding in his chest at Frank confessing that he didn’t want to lose him, Gerard laughed at his description of the twins.

Frank smiled at the sound of his laughter. “Can’t we still be friends now that all this babysitting is over?”

Gerard tightened his fists even more so and bit his tongue to prevent himself from giving in and giving his obsession exactly what he wanted. He wanted to spoil him so badly it was making his head hurt, but no matter what he couldn’t be friends with Frank. Deep down inside him it resonated everywhere within him, making itself well known and obvious. It couldn’t work what with how much Gerard physically and mentally NEEDED him. He wouldn’t be able to do the things friends do together. He can’t go to the movies with him, play cards with him, go to the mall, go to the local fair, or make tiny houses out of Popsicle sticks without jumping the poor boys bones over and over again! Even right now, Gerard was nearing the last of his tether and was damn near pushing Frank up against his Aunt and Uncle’s car and publicly having his way with him. He had to get out of there as soon as possible before that idea ended up becoming a reality. Not being able to speak what with the amount of energy he was already using up to keep himself back from Frank, Gerard managed to give Frank an empty nod of acceptance. The look on Frank’s face made him regret giving in to him.

“Seriously!?” Frank exclaimed, overjoyed. “Oh thank you, this is so great! I can’t believe it! C-Can I have your number, you know, so we can schedule a time to hang out or go see a movie?”

Gerard froze once again. The only number he had was his Killjoy number, and he couldn’t possibly give him that. Frank could call at the wrong time when he was in the shower, and someone would surely find out by answering his phone. The Killjoys were an intruding bunch, among other things, and it could cost Frank his life. Once again, Gerard’s brain had to scramble for another way out. “I-I uh…actually, could I just take your number instead?”

Frank eagerly nods, his innocent eyes not seeing past Gerard’s false lies. He wrote his number down on a piece of paper and handed it to Gerard. Flashing him a fake smile, Gerard took the piece of paper and stuck it into his pant pocket. “Thank you...I uh, I gotta get going now. I’ll see you around, kid.”

Nodding in understanding but feeling much better than before about him leaving now that he had his number, Frank stuck out his hand in a goodbye handshake. “I’ll see you too, Gerard.”

Visibly shivering as the volcano inside him began to erupt, Gerard stared at his delicate hand, before looking back up into his eyes with a look of desperation. Finally breaking free of his reins, one of his hands launched out to grab ahold of Frank’s arm in a tight hold that made him gasp in surprise before he was yanked forward against Gerard’s chest. Wrapping his arms around his back, Gerard held him close to his body. He breathed in the scent of Frank’s hair heavily, causing his eyes to roll into the back of his head in pleasure. Within his arms, Frank tentatively leaned his cheek against his chest, nervous at first before Gerard’s body warmth gave him the courage to nuzzle his face against him. Gerard groaned at this, and at the fact that there was way too many clothes on between them. His hand trembled with the need to roam over the angles of Frank’s now 16 year old body. He wanted to touch every inch of his naked body right there in his Aunt and Uncle’s driveway. That fact alone gave him the strength to finally pull away. He didn’t remember muttering a goodbye, just grabbing his backpack and hurrying down to his car that sat at the bottom of the driveway. Sadly he remembered Frank calling out his name…

“Gerard, wait!” Gerard was almost in the safe haven of his car, but no, he had to step out and turn around to receive a most likely innocent kiss from Frank to his cheek. Gerard could feel the Poison within him stirring, not to mention his dick. He was shocked that Frank would be so bold as to give him a kiss to the cheek. It felt like centuries until Frank had stepped back, a blush staining his cheeks, and a love-struck grin on his face. “Don’t be a stranger.”

Gerard watched him turned around and head back up the driveway like a love-struck fool himself. Mentally, he was having a full-fledge war with himself for even thinking of taking that exact moment to kidnap his precious Frank and shove him into his trunk in the broad daylight with neighbors out and about and calling THAT his kidnapping plan instead. But luckily, patience and logic won. Praying that his blue balls wouldn’t kill him before he got to completing his plan, Gerard stumbled into his car and drove off into the distant, all with Frank plaguing his mind.
