I'm the Last One That You'll Ever Remember

Chapter 74: You Had a Girlfriend!?

A month after Frank had returned back home, and now a month pregnant with his second pregnancy, but third child, he had decided to give up on waiting for Gerard to call him long ago. He had given him his phone number before he was kidnapped a second time by that ever elusive Poison, and was set free again only to receive everyone’s concerning calls and messages, but his. Frank was left with days of not knowing how to get into contact with him. Even his Aunt Edith and Uncle Peter couldn’t reach him with the number he had left him. It turned out that phone wasn’t even working anymore. With each passing hour, Frank gave up a little more each time on needing to hear his voice again, and have him be there to listen to Frank’s current problems and help him through them. In the end, he pushed everything that was Gerard aside to nurse his sad broken heart alone in peace.

“PUMPKIN, YOUR FRIEND IS AT THE DOOR FOR YOU!” Margo Iero called to her son from downstairs.

Frank had just got dressed from his shower when he had heard her call out to him, and was now frowning to himself in confusion. “Friend? What friend?” Turning his bedroom light off, Frank headed downstairs and to the front door where his mother stood waiting for him.

Margo gave him a smile and reached out to run her hand over his wet hair. “Have a good shower, Pumpkin?”

“Sure, mom, thanks for asking.” Frank blushed a bit at his mother’s embarrassing nickname for her ‘Halloween Pumpkin’ as she likes to call him, and stepped forward to open the further to reveal…Gerard!? Frank’s hazel eyes widen in surprise before he glanced over his shoulder to make sure his mother had left to give them privacy, and then back again. “What…what are you doing here?”

The whole trip over to the Iero residence was filled with Gerard rehearsing his ‘concern’ expressions, and tone of voice. It was extremely difficult to feign shock, and concern over Frank’s safety after being kidnapped a second time and returned successfully…especially when he was the one responsible for kidnapping him both times. Of course, no one else knew that, and so he had to pretend to be like everyone else in Frank’s life; a sad and concerned individual that loved him.

What he didn’t expect was to be nervous upon seeing his precious Black Opal again in the flesh, and that the beautiful young boy would speak to him so detachedly, and withdrawn. Dropping his eyes to the floor, Gerard reached up to nervously rub the back of his neck. “I uh-I heard about what happened to you and…and I thought I’d come over to see how you were doing.”

“I’m fine. You can go now.” Frank replied in a monotone voice as he began to close the door on Gerard.

“Whoa, hold on a minute! Frank!” Reaching a hand out to slap it against the door, Gerard pushed the door open a few inches, and peered inside at Frank with a look of surprise. “What’s wrong with you, man? Are you…are you upset with me?”

“Upset, really!?” Frank exclaimed as he shot him a glare. “Is that the choice of word you wanna go with? Okay, fine, then! No, I’m not upset with you!” He watched Gerard’s face turn to one of relief, but before he could open his mouth, Frank cut him off. “I’m fucking pissed off at you, Gerard!”

“Wha-”

Frank flung the door open and shoved a hand right in the center of Gerard’s chest, something he’d never have to balls to do to anyone before, but now he’s got the pregnancy hormones running through him and it was making him 10x more emotional than usual…and, of course, hornier than usual. “I gave you my phone number a month and a half ago and you NEVER called me!”

Gerard was a genius at making up lies on the spot, and now that he knew why Frank was so upset with him, his brain began to fabricate a convincing lie. Holding up his hands in surrender, Gerard took a step back to give them both some much needed space. Frank because he was pissed, and Gerard didn’t know if his hands would start flying at him at any minute, and Gerard because the sight of Frank being so pissed off turned him on immensely. “AND that’s a perfect reason for you to be mad at me, Frankie! A damn perfect reason.” He then raised a finger. “BUT, I have an excuse as to why I never called you, and it’s not a bullshit lie, I promise you. I swear it’s the truth, and nothing but the truth!”

Something about Gerard’s big old light brown eyes touched his heart, and melted it much like his daughter would do to him sometimes when she was in trouble and was trying to get out of it. Going soft much like he does for his little girl, Frank let out a sigh and crossed his arms over his chest. He was still mad on the outside, but on the inside he was willing to listen. “Fine, let’s hear it.”

“Thank you.” Gerard started out before taking a deep breathe. “So much has happened since I last saw you Frank. I had…I had broken up with my ex-girlfriend at the time, and came out as gay to my family and hers at her cousin’s birthday party, which I realized wasn’t the perfect place to do it at, but...” He shrugged to himself and stuffed his hands in his front pocket. “I had to do it. It was then or never, you know?”

Frank was staring at him through wide hazel eyes filled with both shock and hurt. “W-Wait…you had a girlfriend!? You never told me you had a girlfriend, Gerard!”

Gerard held up his hands again to calm an incredibly sexy, but furious Frank down again. “I know I know, and I should have. It’s just she and I have been off and on for such a long time I literally had no idea we were even together until the day after I saw you.” He shook his head to himself, and rolled his eyes at the thought of his evil pretend girlfriend. “The thing is our relationship wasn’t really much of a relationship. If I have to be brutally honest with you, I think she was just using me for sex majority of the time. I think, no, I KNOW that she doesn’t care about me the way she should. We’re just…not compatible, and it took for me to meet you to realize that for myself.”

“Hold on, are you…” Frank started before hesitating. He kind of felt rude for asking him such a personal question, but with everything Gerard put him through he felt like he deserved an answer. “Are you telling me you’re…gay?”

“That’s correct, and I hope this won’t become a problem between us.” Gerard nodded in confirmation, before raising a suspicious eyebrow at Frank. “IS this going to be a problem between us?”

Blushing from embarrassment, Frank’s anger completely disappeared and was replaced with a bashful smile as he shook his head. “No, actually…I-I like boys more than I like…girls, so…yeah.”

Gerard already knew Frank had some kind of attraction to him which meant he had to be into guys, and yet hearing him confess it with his own mouth made a rush of relief and happiness flood into his system. He gave him a satisfied grin. “That’s perfect, then.”

They couple stood there google-eyeing each other for a few minutes before Frank remembered his manners. “Oh, I’m sorry!” He pushed open the door wider and gesture for Gerard to come inside with a sweep of his arm. “Would you like to come in?”

Gerard raised an eyebrow. “Are you sure your parents wouldn’t mind?”

His parents…now that’s another story. Frank’s smile falter a bit. “Yeah uh…s-sure.”

“Are you certain?” Gerard asked him, not wishing to walk into the house and get shot in the face with a shotgun he knew his father owned. “Because you don’t sound like you are.”

“Yeah, well...” Frank hesitated before deciding to share the truth with Gerard. “You see, my daddy’s a little more on edge than usual since I got back so he’s been acting a little…strange.”

Gerard could understand that. He had his only child taken from him a second time by yours truly, naturally he was blaming himself for failing to protect him a second time. At least, that’s what Gerard imagine he would feel if Frank was his to keep, and had been taken from him not once, but twice. His eyes looked Frank over, more out of horny-ness than concern. “ARE you okay? I mean, after all that…how you okay, Frankie?”

Frank smiled and gave him a confident nod. “I-I am…now that you’re here.”

Gerard grinned down at Frank again. “Good.” He then gestured with his head to the inside of his house. “And yes, I would love to come in.”

Stepping aside, Frank let his only friend inside, and unbeknownst to him, his kidnapper.
