I'm the Last One That You'll Ever Remember

Chapter 75: Accurate Accusation

“WHOA HEY, WHO THE HELL IS THAT!” Frank’s father, Frank Sr. roared from deep within the house. Frank and Gerard both looked forward to see the man striding over to them with steam coming out of his ears. Looking to Frank, Gerard watched the young boy release an irritable sigh as he stepped forward to meet his father with his hands out in hopes to calm the man down.

“Hey, Daddy, you need to calm down, okay? It’s just one of my friends, no one else.” Frank quickly explained as he stopped to stand in front of his dad who seemed to have lost it since his child was kidnapped a SECOND time by the SAME man. The police hadn’t figured out if that was the actual case though, but still, Detective Drebin and Detective Frost believed it to be so. Frank had told himself the night before he was found that he would identify Poison to the police the second he was back in their custody…unfortunately the most truth that he could get out to the police was that he was a Caucasian male, not Korean. The Detectives were please with that amount of progress that Frank had made, but they still weren’t happy that he remained stuck to his kidnapper having platinum blonde hair simply because that’s what he said before when his kidnapper was a Korean man. They both believed Frank was still trying to hold on to his fake story for as long as he could, but it made them feel a bit relieve that at least the counseling and therapy sessions were at least able to get the fact that his kidnapper was a Caucasian male out of his system.

Frank Sr. continued on with his rant, not hearing a word his son said. “Who is he? Where did he come from?” When his son opened his mouth to answer him, he cut him off again before he could get a word out. “What’s his age, and birthday? Where does he work? Why haven’t I ever heard of him before until now!?”

Peeking her head out of the kitchen, Margo could clearly see her husband was the cause of the ruckus going on. Naturally, that didn’t surprise her. Her husband had been on edge since they retrieved their son back again, and to be honest, there was a time where she was just as bad as him. It took her little pumpkin pleading for them to calm down, and stop smothering him for her to end her overprotective mother-mode tyranny. Sadly, her husband couldn’t let it go. Margo knew it was because he believed that he failed as a father to protect their only child. “Franklin!” Stepping out of the kitchen, Margo walked over to them, and placed a calming hand on her husband’s back. “Honey, stop this! The boy is our son’s harmless friend. He is NOT an intruder.”

It was definitely hard for Frank Sr. to comprehend that, especially after all his family been through. He didn’t want to take any chance on ANYONE, including their damn mailman. Before Frank Sr. was absolutely certain that no one would ever lay their finger on his son ever again, and had heightened their security up that first time, and yet his son was kidnapped a SECOND time, which is practically unheard of in kidnapping cases such as theirs! Now, that his son was back, Frank Sr. didn’t want to take any type of risks big or small when it came to trusting people. Frank Sr. continued to stare at this unfamiliar boy with his pale skin, shoulder length black hair and light brown eyes as if he was his son’s kidnapper manifested before them. “Oh yeah, and how do we know that? He can be that bastard that stole our son from us disguised as an everyday kid trying to get easier access to him!”

“Oh my god, are you serious right now, daddy?!” Frank exclaimed in shock, not believing his father’s ridiculous conspiracy. I mean honestly, Gerard being Poison in disguise? Frank wanted to laugh at that insane theory. “You can’t just go around accusing everyone of being him!”

Margo nodded in agreement. “Our Pumpkin is right, sweetie.” She gestured to Gerard who simply stood by the door watching through wide eyes of what she thought to be fear, but in actuality was amazement. “This is Gerard way, remember? He babysat our gra-…our niece and nephew while Edith and Peter went off to a family member’s funeral out of state.”

“…oh.” Frank Sr. mumbled as he finally began to recognize the young man. Placing his hand on his hips to save face, he gave Gerard a simple nod. “Nice seeing your face again, Mr. Way.”

Gerard couldn’t help but smile despite how impressed he was by Frank Sr.’s accurate accusation towards him. Who would have guessed, right? “It’s nice to see you again too, Mr. Iero.”

“Right.” Now feeling that he embarrassed himself enough, Frank Sr. pointed towards the kitchen. “Well, I better go, and…start on some dinner…if you’ll excuse me.” With one long step to his left, Frank Sr. was out of the hallway, and back into the kitchen with his wife following close behind him ready to scold the hell out of his ears the second they were alone.

Frank was certain that when he turned around to look for Gerard he’d be long gone out the door and down the street by then after seeing how crazy his parents had become, but what he got instead was a surprise. Gerard was still standing there, except this time he was giving Frank a smile of forgiveness for his father’s behavior. Still, Frank felt the need to apologize on his father’s behalf anyway. “Please, don’t listen to a word my daddy says! He’s just….like I said before he’s just a bit…”

“Strange, I know, I remember.” Gerard replied with a nod. “Don’t worry, it’s completely understandable. You and your family have been through a lot.”

It didn’t seem so to Frank. For some reason, despite all they’ve been through, Frank feels like they’re expected to still be a normal family. “Still…”

“Hey.” Gerard whispered to him as he stepped forward and took Frank’s hand in his, the feeling of his thumb running over his knuckles making him look up into his eyes. “Don’t worry about it, okay? I’m fine. I promise.”

The feeling of Gerard caressing the back of Frank’s hand made his body ignite into flames. He was so turned on right now he almost went cross eyed for a second there. Forcing to pull his hand away, Frank tried his hardest to give Gerard a friendly smile. “O-Okay….so…yeah.” Spinning around, Frank lead the way down the huge hallway that led pass the massive kitchen and into the gigantic living room, all the while deeply breathing in and out.

Gerard was impressed by the size, especially since this was his first time there in the daytime. The TV was playing cartoons and sitting in a mound of blankets and stuffed animals was Lorenzo and Venetia, their eyes glued to the screen. Gerard was surprised to see them there considering that they were Edith and Peter’s kids. “Oh, the twins are here too?”

Frank had to stop himself from saying ‘yeah, they’re my kids, of course they’d be here’ and quickly thought up a lie. “Uh...y-yeah. I wasn’t feeling so well this morning and so I asked my aunt and uncle if they could come over to cheer me up.” Sitting himself down among the blankets, he smiled when the twins noticed him and began to crawl over the toys for him. “They usually do the trick when I’m sad.”

“I see.” Gerard answered before kicking his converses off to sit beside Frank. He watch the twins smile with love up at Frank and him smile back mutually with the same amount of love. It was cute watching Frank interact with them, and almost mesmerizing. Gerard didn’t understand why, but he felt like he could watch them three all day.

The rest of their time consisted in watching movies with the twins who insisted on receiving cuddles from the both of them. Every once in a while during the movie Lorenzo would get up from Frank’s lap, and crawl into Gerard’s while Venetia did the same. Gerard didn’t know why they kept doing that, but he just shrugged it off and would help whichever one settle down onto his lap.

Throughout the movie, Poison would find himself openly staring at Frank’s lips. He couldn’t lie, he wanted to taste them again. Now, that he’s finally had a taste of them, he couldn’t bring himself to avoid thinking about them.

Kobra could tell that something was going on with him, more so than usual especially when they should have left town three weeks ago, but didn’t because Gerard had practically pleaded on his hands and knees for them to stay. He just needed some more time with Frank, just a little more.

The movie they were watching was a Disney Princess movie called the Princess and the Frog. It looked to be Disney’s first African American Princess and all three of the Ieros seem to appreciate the diversity. Venetia would occasionally squeal loudly and clap her hands to the singing, and Lorenzo would laugh with drool falling down his chin. Gerard was pretty impressed that this Princess was working to start her own business right off the back instead of waiting around for a Prince.

“PUMPKIN, DINNER IS ALMOST READY! IS YOUR FRIEND STAYING FOR DINNER!?” Margo called from the kitchen.

Frank turned his eyes to Gerard. “What do you say? Would you like to stay?”

Gerard knew he shouldn’t. Hell, he shouldn’t have even stopped by to see him. He should be out there stalking the prey he was supposed to be catching, but…he obviously got sidetracked. Flashing Frank a smile, Gerard came to his decision. “What are we having for dinner?”

“Food.” Frank informed him before shouting to his mom. “HE SAID YES, HE’LL STAY!”
