I'm the Last One That You'll Ever Remember

Chapter 77: Snuck Out

The next time Frank saw Gerard again was when he was cleaning up the twin’s mess in his bedroom. It was after dinner time and his parents were each working in their own offices. His precious Lorenzo and Venetia were tucked away in their cribs fast asleep. He had finished his homework before dinner and was now placing the armful of toys in the toy chest against the wall when he heard a tap against his window. Lifting his head, Frank frowned as he stared over at his window peeking out from the parting of his curtains. He expected to see a tiny bird fluttering around having flew into his window, but he saw nothing until…a tiny rock appeared to hit against the glass of his window. “What the…” Frank mumbled to himself as he closed the toy chest and warily stepped over to his window. He peeked out cautiously, unsure of who could be throwing rocks at him, and smiled instantly when he saw Gerard standing on his lawn looking sexy in a black leather jacket.

Gerard grinned when he saw him and gave a wave as a greeting. He knew he really shouldn’t be there. No, Poison was supposed to be back at the killjoy house, but he hadn’t been able to sleep at all, and so felt like seeing his Black Opal again to pass the empty time. And so here he was standing on Frank’s front lawn hoping to convince him to sneak out with him to have some fun. He gestured with both hands for Frank to come downstairs to him. He mumbled to himself as his light brown eyes peered up at the most beautiful face God had created thus far. “Come to me, darling. Come to me now, and let me take you away from here.”

Frank lifted a finger to gesture for Gerard to give him a moment before he closed the curtains, and began to formulate a plan. He hadn’t snuck out in a long time, and so he was a bit rusty with it. He was aware both of his parents were awake right now in their separate offices working, which wasn’t as good as them being asleep in bed. Awake they could check on him at any time, and Frank couldn’t have that happening if he planned on not getting caught. How was he going to keep them from coming into his room to make sure he’s still there? He supposed going to bed early might help…he was pregnant again after all, and so his parents wouldn’t find him being exhausted as anything odd. They’d believe it was the effects of carrying his third child. “It’s worth a shot.” Frank mumbled to himself before heading off to his mother’s office first which was on the left side of the house. He knocked lightly before poking his head in. “Mommy?”

Margo Iero was at her desk skimming through files that were in her briefcase. She looked up and gave him a smile, taking her reading glasses off. “Hey, pumpkin! Did you vomit again or something?”

Shaking his head, Frank stepped further in the room. “No, not yet. I was actually just coming to tell you that I’m pretty tired so I’m gonna take the rest of the night off, if that’s cool.”

“Alright, baby. Give me a kiss goodnight, and then don’t forget to give your father one before you ‘hit the sack’, as the cool kids say these days.” Margo reminded with a smile.

Frank rolled his eyes at her attempt to stay hip, and smiled as he walked around her desk to hug and kiss her cheek. Yes, it was super childish for him to do, and yes, he was big boy that didn’t need his parent’s kisses anymore, but he couldn’t help himself, he was still a big old baby at heart. “I love you, mommy, and goodnight.”

“Night, pumpkin. Sleep tight, and don’t let the bed bugs bite.” Margo teased as she got back to the files on her desk.

Frank closed the door to her office before heading to the other side of the house where Frank Sr.’s office was. Once again, he knocked lightly before poking his head in. “Daddy?”

“Hmm?” Frank Sr. responded as he typed away on his laptop.

“I’m going to bed early, I’m pretty tuckered out.” Frank informed him.

“Naturally, what with how much you’ve been puking lately.” Frank Sr. reminded him before finally looking at him over his reading glasses. “You’ve got pretty bad morning sickness this second time around I’ve noticed.”

Frank nodded in agreement, and rubbed his still flat but pregnant belly behind the door. “Yeah, I know right. It’s crazy.”

“Anyway.” Frank Sr. pushed back in his seat and opened up his arms. “Come over here and give your old man a hug.”

Frank rushed over and gently - because he was pregnant - threw himself at his dad, giving him a kiss on the cheek. “I love you daddy, goodnight.”

“Goodnight, my boy.” Frank Sr. patted his back before he pulled away. “Now, let me get back to all this work before I fall asleep at my desk again.”

Frank giggled and nodded, leaving his father to his work. He headed over to his bedroom door and shouted over his shoulder as loud as he can so both parents would be able to hear on either end of the house. “GOODNIGHT!” He didn’t have to wait for a reply to know that they heard him and entered his room again, making sure he closed the door loud enough behind him. He quickly tiptoed around the room yanking on some clothes, and stuffing some random cash lying around into his wallet and then into his jacket pockets. He wasn’t yet showing this far along into his pregnancy so his parents allowed him to leave the house whenever he wanted to, with an escort of course, but that would soon change. This was the first time he was leaving the house without any of his relatives keeping watch over him. Hell, this was his first time he was sneaking out to hang out with someone he was attracted to as much as he was to Gerard. Feeling giddy, and excited, he stuffed a whole bunch of items underneath his comforter to make it seem like he was asleep underneath it just in case they decided to peek in on him anyway. He then turned off all the lights, snuck out of his room and then into the darkness downstairs. He avoided all the creaks in the house expertly only because he use to sneak out a LOT in the past to hang out with his friends and was forced to memorize them all by heart. His parents were the type to punish severely, no matter how small the charges are, and so he hadn’t wanted to get caught at the time.

When he reached the downstairs, he swiftly headed for the kitchen, and snuck outside through the back door. Through there he navigated his way through the pitch black to the front lawn where….wait, where did Gerard go? Frank frowned as he looked around, spinning in circles to find him. He cupped his hands around his mouth and whispered as quietly and yet as loudly as he could. “Gerard?! Gerard, where are you?” There was no answer, and Frank’s heart was feeling crushed that he wasted his time getting all excited and dressed only for the guy to have ditched him like a total jerk!

“Boo!”

Frank would have literally jumped straight up into the air out of fright hadn’t someone grabbed him from behind, and kept him down on his two feet. The only option then was to open his mouth and start screaming like a banshee, but his captor buried his face in Frank’s neck and whispered playfully in his ear. “Calm down, Frankie! It’s just me.”

Recognizing that voice as Gerard, Frank tried to wiggle out of his arms as he hissed at him. “Gerard?! What the hell is wrong with you!?”

Gerard snickered as he lifted his head. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you that bad.” He loosened his hold and allowed Frank to break free from his arms. “I was just kidding.”

Once he released, Frank turned around and shoved Gerard in the chest. His eyes shown hurt, but his voice held anger. “You were kidding!? Do you NOT remember what I’ve been through already! I don’t need some hot guy coming out of the shadows, and grabbing me like that, okay!?”

Shit, Gerard mentally curses himself. He had forgotten all about that traumatic evenT Frank went through because of him. It was strange that it even left his mind. He was Frank’s kidnapper, how does one forget something as important as that? Sighing heavily, he ran his hand through his black strands once again before cursing himself. “Fuck! Look, Frankie, I’m sorry, really. I can’t believe that slipped my mind so easily! Please, can you forgive me?”

Frank was about to say a ‘hell no’ but did the opposite when Gerard reached out and took his hands in his and held them up over his lips. His hazel eyes widened as his cheeks flushed a vibrant pink. “I..uh I-I….o-okay.”

Gerard smiled down at him. “Thank you, Frankie, you’re very sweet, you know that?” He allowed his lips to graze Frank’s knuckles before releasing his hands altogether. “I was hoping you’d allow me to take you somewhere special tonight. Do you still want to go, or have I ruined this entire evening with my stupidity?”

Frank nodded, feeling like the kiss on his knuckles thrown him into a trancelike state that only made him susceptible to anything this man said. “No, I-I mean, yes. Yes, I’d still like to go.”

“Good. Come with me.” Gerard whispered to him as he took his hand in his and led him to his car. He drove them to their location in silence, all the while enjoying the feeling of Frank sitting willingly and conscious at his side. Yes, it was much better than him being unconscious and in the trunk or back seat of his car.
