The Hippo and the Fairy

“Dude, you suck.” I said to my cousin

Jackie replied in a whiny voice,” Hey! That was mean.”

“Ok, so you don’t suck. You’re just not very good” I stuck my tongue out in a
joking way, “Don’t stomp so hard. It only makes it harder to play. Not to mention you
sound like a hippo. You’ll crash through the floor.”

Jackie was playing DDR. She seemed to despise the game when I first taught her
how to play, but now she’s completely addicted. Jackie and I could shape shift. It was
kind of a secret technique. We referred to ourselves as shape shifting ninjas.

“Will you stop stomping? You’ll create an Earthquake!” My aunt yelled up the
stairs. I looked at Jackie mockingly, “ See? I’m not the only one that thinks you sound like a
hippo.”

I received a glare, “ Oh shut up.”

An hour later, once Jackie had finally given up on DDR, Kari, a fairy we knew,
informed us that our sworn enemy, Loki, was a few blocks away.

“ Kari, are you sure it was him?” I asked

“Positive,” He smirked

I had already decided something was going to be done. I knew what he wanted, us,
and I knew what he would do if he didn’t get it. Once ready, we both shape shifted into
shadows and slithered out the window. No one could see us.

We hadn’t gone very far, but I could already sense the freak. His aura could be
noticed miles away. If you looked in the dictionary for “evil” his picture would be next
to it. And evil must be stopped.

We had been there in the shadows for a while, but he still hadn’t noticed us.

“ So Loki, still haven’t noticed? I snickered

“And you call yourself a villain” Jackie said

“Uh, no I don’t.” said Loki

I swiftly shape shifted into a wolf and Jackie into a banana.

“ Jackie,” I growled, “ Why are you a banana?”

She morphed into a coyote, “ Oops.”

We lashed, clawed, and bit him with our fangs until finally, he gave. He was so
torn and shredded it was ridiculous. As we morphed back into our original forms I threw
my Sais at him. Loki, being evil, vanished in a puff of black smog.

“ He’s not dead yet.” I laughed

“ Of course not, he runs every time we get close.” Jackie said in an annoyed tone

“ I hate cowards.” I nearly growled

We walked home. As we approached the windows we shape shifted to get in and
lay down in the bed. As we fell into sleep, we only could dream of the nightmares that
awaited us…
