Memories

The signing of the demon king's contract with Cadence had come to pass almost a month later with the brunette receiving her memories the very next day. The brunette now remembered her past and the dark secrets that had consumed it. Cadence locked herself in the room Shadows had given her for several moons, finally coming out two months later, her fair skin now a ghostly white. Zacky was the first to lay his eyes on the newly reappeared Cadence and from what lay before his green eyes, he could feel his heart shatter into more fragments than it already had. His love was an empty vessel of what his Cadence once was now, and he had no idea why.

Cadence's brown eyes, now hollow from what she had remembered the past two months, laid sight on the vampire king and narrowed. She moved quickly, practically sprinting until her feet placed her in front of Zacky. With her body tense and anger coursing through her veins, she reared her hand back, the sound of the impact of palm hitting face echoing throughout the corridor.

"You're both disgusting," she hissed, her voice laced with nothing but venom. "I am an orphan because of Matt and you!"

Zacky's body tensed, his whole body stiff at her accusations that held absolute truth in them. After the vampire and demon king had both first seen the brunette in the City with her parents they had ordered for her parents to be slaughtered. What hadn't been expressed in the orders however was that Cadence, who was merely fourteen at the time, to be forced to watch as the three werewolves hired to kill her parents slaughtered them as the young brunette was handcuffed to the old and rusted bed frame of her parent's bed.

"I watched them die because of you both," she exclaimed, "and you sat there as I told you everything! Why?"

The vampire remained silent, trying to keep his blood tears at bay as he listened to the love of his life, berate him and break all at once. He stayed completely still as she began pounding his chest and arms with her fists, throwing punch after punch until Cadence's rage turned into complete and utter heartbreak. The brunette slumped to the ground, tears flowing freely down her face as she began to sob hysterically.

"I loved you," she hiccuped. "I trusted you."

"Mon ange," Zacky began, only to be cut off by Cadence.

"I am not your angel," the brunette hissed. "And you are not my heart. You are nothing to me."

Cadence pulled herself up off the floor, shoving past Zacky, knowing her words effected the vampire more than any physical wound ever could. The brunette didn't care what pain she caused Zacky or Matt with her words or actions. All Cadence cared about anymore was destroying the contract she had signed so she could return to the Killjoys and to Kobra Kid, the only people who were honest to her from the very start.

The brunette walked through the barely inhabited hallways of the manor, easily finding Matt's office. She locked herself inside the office and began looking for the contract she had signed several months prior. It took several hours and several now dead guards being questioned before Cadence had what she needed in her fingertips. She pulled out the matches she had been holding in her pocket, lighting the document on fire as the lock and the door to the office was broken. In front of the now broken door stood the demon king himself, his eyes red with rage as he watched the only thing keeping Cadence with him becoming ashes.

"Now I am free of the monsters who stole my childhood and my innocence," Cadence spoke.

Matt snarled at Cadence's words. He had saved her from a life unknown and allowed her his protection as well as every other king's protection. With several strides of his long legs the demon long had the brunette pinned to his bookshelf. He expected some sort of fight from the brunette he had loved from very first sight but when none came he squeezed her throat even more tightly.

"Do you wish to see them again?" Matt questioned. "Those pathetic humans who couldn't even keep you safe from me?"

Cadence's eyes narrowed, hatred filling them as she stared into Matt's hazel green ones. She would be damned if he talked so poorly about her parents. They had given her everything a human living in a supernatural dominated world could. Her mother gave up opportunities at having nice, untorn and undamaged clothing, giving everything nice she owned to Cadence and her father worked so many jobs to pay rent and for their safety that she hardly saw him.

"Burn in hell," Cadence hissed.

A devious and diabolic grin formed on Matt's lips at Cadence's words. He released his grip on the fair skinned brunette's throat, watching as she leaned against his desk, gasping for air. The demon king gave her no time to regain her breath before he pinned her against his desk, her stomach pressed against the dark wood as he undid his belt, sliding it free from it's belt loops.

"I will burn with you beside me and you will not enjoy it," Matt spoke.
