Heaven Knows

Zacky

Zacky slid his fangs into the blonde chained to the wall in front of him. He began drinking her blood, finding himself slowly becoming annoyed by her continual pleas to let her go so she could go home. His vibrant green eyes turned dark as he pulled away, grabbing the unnamed girl’s jaw and held it tightly. His grip silenced her voice and only allowed her tears and whimpers to be heard, causing a sinister smirk to form on the vampire king's lips. He dug his fangs into the girl once more, drinking from her until he could hear her heartbeat slow down more than he wanted. He pulled away, letting the girl crumble to the floor in front of him, wiping his now ruby red stained lips on the back of his hand.

“You are here until I decide you die so enjoy your stay,” he hissed, leaving the blonde to fall unconscious on the cold dungeon floor.

Zacky walked out of the dungeon, his hunger for blood temporarily satisfied as he climbed the stairway that lead to the rest of the manor he and the rest of the kings lived in. As he reached the second staircase that would lead to his part of the household, his ears perked as he heard her name being spoken by one of the maids. He rushed over to the pair that had been talking, using his inhuman speed and pinned the one who had been speaking to the wall by her throat.

“You,” he hissed. “Why are you speaking her name?”

The maid coughed and wheezed, but dared not struggle against her rulers grip in fear of having her head being ripped from her shoulders. The other maid, a young redhead, looked on with wide eyes, unaware why the king of the vampires was so affected by the name of the woman the older maid had mentioned.

“Rose was telling me Cadence is back in the castle, your grace,” the young redhead spoke.

Zacky’s eyes narrowed at Rose, releasing his hold on her throat and waited until he knew she had regained her breath to question her. He knew the old woman had been a motherly figure to many people in the manor, Cadence being one of them. The raven-haired vampire knew if anyone would recognize her, it would be the old woman.

“When did you see her,” Zacky asked.

“King Shadows brought her back,” Rose replied. “Apparently she was the one who had stolen from you all.”

Zacky’s jaw clenched, anger coursing through his body as he listened to Rose’s words. If the thief had been his Cadence, then question was why had she stolen from him and the other kings? His eyebrows furrowed as he stood silently, deep in thought, giving both maids their opportunity to leave while the vampire king's wrath was gone and replaced with a different emotion. The vampire moved to run his hands over the necklace he wore, a small skull -shaped pendant that Cadence had given him, as his thoughts quickly became consumed with the woman he thought he would forever be forced to mourn because of Shadows' anger.

Synyster Gates, having seen Rose rushing from the hallway moments earlier with the tell tale signs of a bruise forming on her throat, decided to see which of his fellow rulers had caused it. Gates would normally encourage showing humans they were below him and any other supernatural being in the kingdom, but because of Cadence, the old maid Rose was one of the very rare and few humans he treated almost as an equal. As he walked further down the hallway, he spotted his fellow ruler and friend Zacky, leaning against the wall, toying with the pendent he never took off. He cleared his throat, snapping the raven-haired vampire out of his stupor and placed his arm around the shorter creature’s shoulders.

“Zack, dude, are you okay?” Syn inquired.

Zacky shrugged free of the incubus’ hold and looked at him. If anyone could give him straightforward answers, it would be the king of the incubus since Zacky and Syn had a strictly straight-forward way of telling each other things.

“Is Cadence alive?” the vampire asked.

The brown-eyed incubus hesitated a few moments before he nodded, knowing now that Zacky knew the vampire would try to be with the brunette human again. A look of pure happiness flashed through the vampire’s green eyes, confusion following when his friend informed him Cadence had no memory of her life at the manor. Zacky knew if his heart was still beating, it would have surely broken at that moment. He shoved past Syn, deciding as soon as he found Cadence he would never let her leave his side ever again.
