Smiley Face

Chapter Eight

After spending almost three hours locked in the apartment with Happy, I was once more dressed and sitting out in the bar.

Happy and I had spent two and a half hours locked away in his apartment in the bed. The last thirty minutes I had gone to shower, in which Happy decided to get in with me while I was washing my hair, only to go another round in the shower.

I was now sitting at the bar, playing with the ring on my finger and talking to Ratboy as he made drinks for whoever asked for one. Though, occasionally Rat would have to leave the bar, or someone else would come and join the conversation- not that I really minded to tell the truth. The company was always pleasant to have.

"So you and Happy, huh?" Juice's voice came from behind me. I hadn't been expecting him to walk up behind me so suddenly. He had ever so slightly surprised me. I flashed him a small smile as he walked over and sat down on the bar stool next to the one that I was currently occupying. "Uh, I mean I guess so." I shrugged my shoulders, still playing with the ring. Juice, for some reason, had a sad look on his face as he looked down at the bar.

"Cool." He mumbled. I couldn't help but notice his sudden change in attitude towards me. The entire time that I had been here, Juice had been nothing but friendly- now he just seemed distant.

"What's wrong, kid?" I asked with a sigh. He lifted his eyes up from the bar to look at me. "What do you mean?" He asked He was trying to make it seem as if nothing was wrong with him, but I wasn't having any of it. I laughed, "Don't try to act like there's nothing wrong. I'm the fucking Queen of covering shit up, so tell me what's bothering you."

I could hear the younger male suck in a deep breath as his eyes scanned over my face. I sat quietly, waiting for him to tell me what was wrong. There had to be an explanation.

"You're with Happy now." He breathed out. His answer taking me by surprise. "Yeah, so what?" I questioned, not exactly understanding what he was getting at. "I don't know, I guess I just thought that maybe I would have a chance there. I should've known better. I should've seen it coming when Happy kept offering to take care of you. " He shrugged his shoulders.

I felt my eyes go wide as I leaned back into my chair. Oh. That's what he meant. I didn't even have a chance to say anything else before Juice got up and walked away. Leaving me sitting there gaping.

I turned to Rat, who had seen and heard the entire conversation. "What did he mean, that Happy kept offering to take care of me?" I asked the twig-like male. He shrugged his shoulders and continued to clean up behind the counter. "He means, that every time Jax had someone go with you and keep you safe, I told him that I would do it." Happy spoke, startling me.

He was standing in the doorway of the club, in a position that I wasn't able to see when he walked into the building- but he had very obviously over heard my conversation with Juice.

He took a few steps towards where I was sitting, and I had just stood up when my phone started ringing in my pocket. There was an unknown number flashing on the screen as I answered it- it was probably just Krista calling from one of her other phones. "Hello?" I sighed, pressing the device against my ear.

"Hello princess. It's been so long since I've heard that lovely voice of yours." A rather familiar voice chuckled through my ear. "Dad," I choked out, "What do you want." Upon hearing my words, Happy closed the space that was between us, and looked down at me worriedly. "We were worried about you of course! You just disappeared out of no where, we've been looking for you sweet heart." He had a dark chuckle in his voice.

Happy had his arms around my waist protectively as he turned to look at Ratboy. "Go get Jax and the rest of the boys." He snapped.

"You know sweetheart, it was rude to leave Aaron the way that you did. He's missed you, you know." I didn't have to see him to know that he was smirking. That cocky motherfucker. Happy never left my side as I felt my body begin to shake against his own. Ratboy came walking back into the bar a few moments later with everyone trailing behind him.

Jax was in the front of the group, with Chibs and Opie trailing directly behind him. Everyone else was scattered behind them. "What's going on?" Jax questioned, looking between Happy and myself.

Ever so slowly, I pulled the phone away from my ear, and pressed the speaker button. You could very visibly see how badly my hands were shaking as I held the phone out in front of me. "You know you can't hide forever. Your friends here in Reno have already confided in us that you've gone somewhere in California. We're going to find you."

Happy's arms wrapped even tighter around me as I could feel tears welling up in my eyes. I knew it. I knew that I couldn't be safe here, I won't be safe no matter where I go. No where is far away enough from them.

"See you soon, Teagan." With that, the line went dead.

I was about to drop the device from my hand, when Jax reached out and took it from me. His entire body was rigid, and I could see the rage hidden in his eyes. I had expected to see that from Happy, but not entirely so from Jax.

He then reached out and place his hand gently down on my shoulder, "We're not going to let these guys get to you Teagan. I promise." He spoke softly, which was a contradiction to how he looked. "We're going to keep you safe, I promise." Jax spoke again- though I knew he couldn't stay true to his words. I couldn't help but feel like no matter how much they tried to tell me everything was going to be alright, that something terrible was going to happen.

"Is there anywhere we could take her in case these guys do show up?" Opie spoke up, looking over the three of us. I looked between Jax and Happy for a few moments, before feeling some sort of sadness wash over me. They had no idea how they were going to try to protect me, even though they were ever so confident that they could do it.

"Yes." Happy spoke suddenly, " I can take her to my mom's."

I looked at him kind of shocked. He had to be joking. I didn't want him to get his family wrapped up in this, in case my father or Aaron figure out where they were hiding me.

"We're going to get rid of this phone, Teagan. I'll get you a new one." Jax sighed, before walking away. I wasn't sure how to react to the situation that was unfolding around me. I hadn't been expecting for them to even look for me, let alone find out that I was in California so quickly.

Turning my body, I brought my hand up to rest lightly on Happy's chest. My finger gripped tightly onto his loose shirt, as he maneuvered to pick me up. I could feel tears escape from my eyes as he carried me away from the group that had crowded around us. He started walking down the hallway towards my apartment, when Juice came out into the hallway.

"What's going on? What's wrong with Teagan?" He was rather quick to ask the man that was carrying me. Happy simply waved him off, and continued the way into the apartment before slamming the door shut behind us. Happy sat down with me on his lap on the edge of the bed, and simply held me in his arms. He rocked his body back and forth ever so slightly, while one of his hands soothingly ran his fingers through my hair.

"Shhh, it's alright. I'm not going to let them get you, you're safe here. Alright? I told you, you're mine- and that means that I'm going to do any and everything to keep you safe."

Hey guys! I thought it would be nice for you all to get to see kind of the more "fluff" side of Happy. I got the inspiration for it when I watched a "Behind the Anarchy" interview thing where David Labrava was just walking around smiling and being sweet and cracking jokes....so yeah.

I hope you enjoyed it. I've come to find that every time I update this and my story Best of us, I keep losing subscribers. Is my writing really that bad?

Please don't go, I love you all :o
