A New Song

Chapter 7

Whether it was the gloomy sky , the traffic while going to work.

Or the fact that I'm starting to doubt my husband.

Was the reason for my crappy day , I would never know. But one thing I'm sure of is that I have to talk to someone. Soon.

I'm making myself insane. I have no idea what to do.

I feel like absolute shit for doubting Matt but what can I do?
I saw pictures. I heard words.

Do I have reason to doubt him?

Did he have reason to cheat?

Was he drunk?

Does he not love me?

I shook my head trying to put the thoughts in the back of my mind.

I have a child that needs my attention.

I have a child so innocent , he doesn't know about Matt yet I sure as hell hope he doesn't find out soon.

"Mama!" Jake yelled as soon as he got in the car.

"Hey baby. How was your day?"

"Good" he said , "I have great news"

"Oh? What is it?"

"I made the baseballl team mama!"

"What?! You made the baseball team?! Oh baby I'm so proud of you!!"

"Thanks mama! I can't wait to tell uncle Zee. Gavin made it too"

"Oh I am very proud of both of you babe. When's your first game?"

"On Saturday! We have practice today at 5"

"Okay. Your dad will have to take you to practice today though."

"Are you gonna play some music today mama?"

I smiled , "you really want me to play music don't you?"

"Yeah. Everyone does. So are you?"

"No today big guy. But I will , soon."

"Good. I miss hearing you sing"

I parked the car and smiled at my beautiful son.

"Go tell your dad your great news" I said softly.

"Okay!" Jake hopped out of the parked car and ran to the front door of our house. I giggled and climbed out.

I took a deep breath and walked into our home. I needed to face Matt.

"What?! You made the baseball team?!! You have no idea how proud of you I am."

"Thanks dad. Mama said you have to take me to my practice today!"

"Well of course I am. I don't think your mom even knows how baseball works!"

Jake laughed and then ran upstairs. I smiled and stepped further into the house finding Matt in the kitchen with a glass of coke in his hands.

"Hey baby"

"Hey." I said , my voice soft.

Today was the day I was gonna tell Matt about the pictures. It's been three days and the worry was eating me alive.

I need to tell him. I need to tell him now.

"Matt I need to talk to you."

"Sure babe what's up?"

"On Saturday... when I was in the mall. She came to me , the woman claiming she's pregnant with your child. She gave me pictures..Matt."

"What kind of pictures?"

I sigh and took out the pictures in my purse. Matt's jaw was clenched.

"You don't believe her , do you?"

"I don't want to."

"But you do" he laughed bitterly. "I can't believe it. You're the one person I need to believe me and you don't."

"You need to see this from my point of view. What will you do when you see this pictures?"

"I will fucking trust you and believe she's lying! Not the other way!"

"It's not... I do believe you and I told you I'd stand by you! But.."

"But nothing. God thank you Hayley. I can't believe my own wife doesn't trust me!"

Matt grabbed his wallet and keys and stormed past me.

"Where are you going?" I demanded

"To Zack. Don't worry I won't knock anyone up on the way over there."

I shut my eyes tightly.

"Jake!" He yelled

In a matter of minutes Jake ran down the stairs. "Yeah dad?"

"You wanna go to uncle Zack to tell him about making the team?"

Jake nodded frantically. "Just let me grab my clothes for practice" he ran back upstairs and before I could blink he was back.

"Bye mama. Love you"

"Love you too honey"

Matt didn't even look at me when they drove away. I sigh and let out a loud groan.

Well this didn't go too well.
