Leilani Carraday opened her eyes and stretched. Today was the day she was going to visit her Aunt Nathalie and Uncle Mario in Pittsburgh. Her mom thought she needed some quality family time, so she was sending her to Pittsburgh for 2 weeks. The last time she was in Pittsburgh she was 7, she was now 24. The last time she had seen her aunt and uncle was 2 years ago at her dad's funeral.
"Leilani" she heard, she sat up in bed quickly, her blonde hair a mess, she fixed her blue eyes on the gorgeous beach view in front of her O'ahu, Hawaii. Her home, her life.
'Going surfing' she wrote on the notepad in front of her. She tossed the book onto her bed before quickly putting on her bathing suit. She opened one of the bedroom doors that led to the outside and ran down the stairs, she grabbed her board that was leaning against the small 1 bedroom house before running towards the open water in front of her.
"LANI" Lori said opening her daughters bedroom door, she sighed when she saw the note "you have a plane to catch" she said walking to the open door. She stepped out and looked at the ocean. Leilani was already in the process of paddling out, she walked down the stairs and towards the beach. She waited a few minutes before waving her daughter in.
"What's up mom?" Leilani asked walking towards her
"Lani I told you I would be here at 7am to take you to the airport"
"I needed to get a surf in" she said ringing the water out of her hair.
"Are you packed?"
"Kinda"
"Kinda? get up there and pack, you have 30 minutes to be showered, packed and ready! Give me your board" she said Leilani passed over the short board and rolled her eyes as she began to walk towards her house.
She shut her door and locked it before walking towards the other bedroom door and shutting it. She looked at the empty suitcase on the floor. She had no idea what to bring. She was use to flip flops, sandals, tank tops, bathing suits and shorts. She practically lived in that and didn't own much of anything else.
"28 minutes" Lori yelled.
"ALRIGHT MOM!" She yelled back, frustrated she walked to her dresser drawer and began to pull out clothes. She walked to her closet and grabbed more stuff before shutting the suitcase. After her shower she walked out in her towel to see Talan sitting on her bed looking through a magazine "Jeez you scared the hell out of me" she said, Talan chuckled
"You really have to go?" He asked, she nodded and grabbed her shorts and shirt she had laid on the bed "when you get back?"
"16 days, I'll be counting down" she said to her best friend, she walked back into the bathroom and changed before looking into the mirror, she shook her hair and put on deodorant and lotion
"Let's go" Lori yelled
"So annoying" she said walking into her room "thanks for watching Roxy for me" she said handing him the key to her place
"No problem, I'll have her back the day you get home"
"Don't forget to check my mail" she said putting her backpack on
"I won't" he said petting the black lab that was laying on the bed
"Please take good care of my fur child" she said with a frown
"I will, and Patterson will have a friend to play with so he will be happy" he said, she smiled and nodded before grabbing her suitcase. She looked around before grabbing her longboard and slipping into her flip flops "always on surf mode" he said putting the Roxy trucker hat on her head, she moved the hair from her face
"Always" she said with a smile, she turned and walked out of her bedroom "lock up before you leave" she said following her mom out of the house. Talan walked out of the house and stood at the top of the staircase
"Don't fall in love with anyone" he said, she laughed
"That won't happen" she replied climbing into the Tahoe.
"Please be good for your aunt and uncle, Mario is kind of a big deal in Pittsburgh"
"He's always been a big deal"
"Well now he is co owner of the penguins so you will probably be around a lot of important people" she said Leilani rolled her eyes.
"Mom stop worrying about me" she said looking at her phone.
