"She asleep?" Sage asked as Sidney walked into the kitchen

"Ya, she will probably wake up with a headache"

"Embarrassed, if I know my sister"

"What do you mean?"

"Lani hates crying in front of people, she's been that way since we were little" he said

"She went through something tragic, I mean so did you but she has every right to mourn and cry when she needs to"

"Have you met my sister?" Sage said with a chuckle "she is the most stubborn human you will ever meet" he said with a smile, Sidney cracked a smile and nodded.

"I think she will be ok" He said walking to the couch

"What did my mom say to you?" Sage asked walking to the couch

"Pretty much to take things slow and not distract her" Sage rolled his eyes and reclined in the chair

"Ignore her, she needs to back up and let Lani do what she wants, she is extremely smart, she knows what she's doing" he said, Sidney cracked a smile "you care a lot about her and I can see that"

"I do" he said with a small grin "it's crazy to think I've only really known her just 2 weeks, it feels like I've known her my entire life" Sage smiled and flipped through the TV, he stopped when he came to a hockey game.

"So how good are you?"

"I'm alright"

"Just "alright"?" Sidney chuckled "Stanley cup winner and just "alright" ya?"

"I'm not big on bragging, it was also several years ago, we can't seem to get it together to get another cup" Sidney said with a smile.

"Olympic gold medalist" Sidney smiled again

"Alright alright, what about you? Are you a surfer?"

"I mean I surf, but I'm not my dad or Lani. She definitely took the genes in that pool" he said with a shoulder shrug "I was always about history and military. I joined when I was 18, I went to Great Lakes for boot camp and then San Diego and then back here to Hawaii. It helps mom and Lani that I'm close" he said, Sidney nodded "you close with your family?"

"Very. My little sister is my world. She is also a hockey player. She plays at northeastern"

"So hockey runs in the family?"

"Ya my dad played, and I learned a lot from Mario in the year I got to play with him" Sage smiled

"I miss my uncle, he is a great guy"

"That he is, Leilani has been asleep for 2 hours should I wake her?" Sage looked at the clock and nodded

"She didn't want to sleep past 4 so ya, just be careful with Roxy, she gets a little mean when people get too close"

"Really?"

"Ya, she is pretty protective of Lani" Sidney smiled and walked to the room, he tapped the door before opening it. Just like Sage said Roxy started to growl, Leilani opened her eyes

"Down" Roxy stopped growling and jumped off the bed "your clear" Sidney smiled and walked to the bed

"Did you get some sleep?" He asked laying down beside her, she nodded and yawned

"Sorry for the beach"

"You have nothing to be sorry about" he said pulling her closer

"What have you been doing?"

"Hanging out with Sage" Leilani looked up at Sidney and smiled

"Talan too?"

"Umm no he left"

"Oh" she said with a frown

"I don't think he is too fond of me"

"What? why would you think that?"

"Just by the way he is around me, he gives me these looks and won't talk to me"

"Oh I don't think it's anything I mean Talan isn't like that" she said with a shoulder shrug, she snuggled up closer to him "do you wanna get up?"

"No I have something else in mind" he said with a smile, she smiled and kissed him.

"Lani you going to the bonfire tonight?" Sage asked walking into the kitchen, she looked up and shrugged

"Bonfire?" Sidney asked

"Ya a bunch of locals put it on down by the water, drink, hang out, night surf, the usual"

"Oh sounds fun, why don't we go?" Sidney asked

"I don't know if I want to go" she said, Sidney looked at her

"Babe it's your first night back home"

"And I'm tired sid, you and Sage can go, I just want to eat and lounge around"

"Ok, then we will stay home"

"No you can go, Sage take him with you" she said Sage looked at Sidney and nodded his head

"You sure?"

"Yes" she said with a smile. Sidney nodded and looked at Sage.

"We can head out now and be back before midnight" Sage said

"Alright just let me get my shoes"

"You don't have shoes on?" Sage asked confused looking at his flip flops and his sisters toms

"I don't wear shoes in the house, I take them off at the door"

"That's weird"

"How I was raised" he said with a smile

"Get out, go have fun" Leilani said pushing them to the door

"Bye sis"

"Bye" Sidney said leaning down to kiss her

"Bye have fun" she said with a smile

"I love you"

"I love you too" she said kissing him again, she closed the door behind them and walked to the couch.

"Dude I'm so sorry" Sage said for the 100th time, Leilani quickly sat up as the door closed

"It's fine man I promise"

"Sorry for what?" The boys jumped at her voice and Sage turned to look at her.

"Sid, umm....kinda got into a fight"

"WHAT!!!" She yelled jumping off the couch

"It was nothing" Sidney said

"Look at me"

"What?" He said turning a little bit

"All the way Sidney Patrick" Sidney sighed and turned to her "oh my gosh"

"Come on Lani it's not that bad, but you should see Hani though" Sage said with a smile.

"Hani You got into a fight with Hani?, Sidney he could have killed you"

"Lani relax please, this wasn't my first fight, I fight on the ice. This was just much easier" he said

"Your eye"

"It's fine" he said reaching for her

"Don't" she said pulling away, Sidney sighed as she walked up stairs

"I'll talk to her" Sage said slapping his shoulder "go clean up" Sidney nodded "Lani"

"WHAT!" She asked from her bathroom, she looked up from the cabinets

"What are you doing?"

"Looking for ointment for Sidney's eye! Why did they get into a fight and better yet why didn't you stop it?"

"Lani, Sidney is a grown ass man he can take care of himself, have you seen his fights on the ice? He is brutal lan! You know how Hani is, he thinks he runs the island, Sidney was the new guy I introduced him as your boyfriend, they asked him what he did for a living, he told them and Hani just kept at him all night and when we got up to leave Hani hit him"

"I'm gonna go down there and talk to Hani"

"No your not! Your gonna stay here and leave it alone" Sage said "Sidney took care of himself trust me" he said, she nodded and sighed as she pulled out the ointment. She stood up and walked past her brother. She looked around her empty living room before Sidney caught her eye, he was sitting outside in the rocking chair. She grabbed a rag, ice, and the ointment and went outside.

"Hi" she spoke softly, he looked at the door

"Hey"

"Are you ok?"

"Ya I'm fine, are you mad?"

"No, I mean not really. I hate fighting, it doesn't solve anything"

"He threw the first punch Lani"

"Sid I know. I knows Hani all too well, he thinks he is Kona. He knows a lot of people, bad people. He is a surfer and drug dealer here on the island" she said "come here" she said pointing the ice inside the rag, she rubbed some ointment on the rag as well before lightly pressing it to Sidney's face

"Thanks" he said taking her hand, he swung her around and sat her on his lap "I love you"

"I love you too"

"What did you put on the rag?"

"It's this cream my dad use to use wen he would get hurt by the reef, it helps the swelling and bruising" Sidney nodded "did you know Hani means happy?" She said with a smile, Sidney chuckled "how did Happy look when you were finished with him?" She asked, Sidney chuckled.

"Not good" Leilani smiled and leaned back on his chest "It's so beautiful here, I don't think I want to leave"
