The next morning Leilani got up and changed into workout clothes, she stretched before quietly walking down the stairs.
"Good morning" Mario said not looking up from the news paper
"Good morning uncle Mario, thanks for ditching last night on the hot tub" she said walking to the fridge, he chuckled.
"Im sorry, you guys just looked too cute to interrupt" he said, she closed the fridge and walked to the living room "going somewhere?"
"Out for a run" she said messing with her fitbit "oh umm.....later I'm going to go eat lunch and go skating with Sidney" she said, Mario smiled.
"Wear jeans" he said
"Only brought one pair" she said, Mario laughed as she checked the time "be back in like 30 minutes, Sidney should be here in like an hour" she said standing up, Mario nodded.
"Don't get lost" Mario chuckled
"Don't worry, I'll be fine. Bye" she said running towards the door

"Hey" Sidney said walking into the house, Nathalie looked at him.
"She isn't back from her run, I think she got lost" Mario said, Nathalie narrowed her eyes "sid and Lani are going to lunch and skating" he said, Sidney blushed as Nathalie grinned, the door opened and everyone turned to look.
"Why is your neighborhood so confusing" Leilani said walking in "sorry I'm not ready, I got lost" she said, everyone laughed "15 minutes?" She asked, Sidney smiled and nodded.
"Take your time" he said, she nodded and ran off towards the stairs
"Sidney are you going to go to worlds if you don't make the playoffs?" Nathalie asked as she began to cut up vegetables
"I've been thinking about it" he said sitting down at the island
"Hey sid" Lauren said sitting next to him. "Where is Taylor?"
"Hanging with friends that are in town" he said
"What you doing today?"
"Umm going to lunch and skating" he said
"With Lani" Austin said walking in, Mario and Nathalie chuckled
"With Lani?" Lauren asked, Sidney nodded his head.
"Ok I'm ready" she said walking into the kitchen. She had on jeans, Nikes, and a billabong tshirt, her hair was in waves and she had no make up on like normal.
"Good" Sidney said quickly standing up, he could feel the eyes burning a hole into him from Lauren
"You 2 have fun" Nathalie said, Leilani smiled and followed Sidney out. The range rover unlocked as Sidney walked towards the passenger door, he opened the door and Leilani stopped
"Oh, thank you" she said with a slight blush, no guy had ever opened the door for her. Sidney nodded and shut the door before walking to the drivers side "nice car"
"Thank you, it was my first purchase after I got signed with the pens"
"And that was?"
"2005"
"Oh so you played a year with uncle Mario?"
"I did, it was a great experience, your uncle is a legend" he said, Leilani smiled
"I might have lied a little" she said, Sidney looked over at her "I do know some about hockey" she said, he chuckled
"I still don't know anything about surfing, except who Kelly Slater is" he said, Leilani giggled
"Uncle Kelly is the best" she said
"Uncle?"
"That's what we call him. Uncle Kelly and my dad where really good friends" she said "he was there for me a lot after the accident, for the longest I wasn't sure who needed who the most. Me or him." She said, Sidney frowned.
"I met Kelly and a few guys when they came to visit Mario back in 09, I was still living at the house at that time" Sidney said
"Wait what?"
"Ya there was like 5 guys" Sidney said "I can't remember who off the top of my head" he said
"Kelly Slater, Tom Curren, Mark Richards, Shane Beschen, and Andy Carraday" she said, Sidney looked at her "I remember that trip, dad almost didn't make my surf competition due to the snow here" she said
"Your dad was there?"
"Andy Carraday" she said with a smile. "AC as he was called" Sidney thought back
"Oh.....ya.....I remember" he said with a smile, Leilani smiled
"I was so mad at him the night before my competition, I cried." She said with a chuckle "but he showed up with flowers right before it was time for my heat" she said "he never broke a promise and never let me down" she said Sidney smiled and pulled into consol energy. Leilani looked up "consol?"
"Ya"
"Oh I thought we were going to a small ice rink" she said, he chuckled and showed the guard his pass
"Nah, figured I would give you the full experience" he said. She chuckled and got out of the car.
"What's in the box?" She asked
"You'll see" he said with a smile.
They walked side by side into consol, Sidney opened the door to the locker room with his key and they walked in. Leilani stood in the center and looked around
"Wow" she said, Sidney walked to his locker and sat the box down. He sat down next to it and looked at Leilani "this is nice"
"It's home" he said with a smile, she smiled and sat down next to him. He stood up and opened the seat to pull out his skates. He sat back down and reached for the box. "Austin told me what size you where" he said handing it to her, she narrowed her eyes and looked at the box in her hands. It was heavy. She took the top off and looked at the pair of white skates.
"Sidney" she said looking up, he smiled.
"Figured you could use them if you ever came back to visit" he said with a shrug
"Wow I don't know what to say"
"You don't have to say anything" he said, she smiled and removed them from the box. As she struggled with making the laces tight Sidney was finishing tying his up. He dropped to his knee in front of her "I got it" he said, she blushed and moved the hair out of her face
"I feel so helpless"
"Remember I'm the pro in this one" he said, she smiled and watched him tie her laces up neatly. "How does that feel?"
"Tight" she said, he looked up and smiled
"Good it's so you don't break an ankle" he said standing up, he reached his hand out to help her up
"Wait so I have to walk all the way to the ice like this?"
"We do it every game" he said with a smile "plus it will help break them in" he said she nodded and they slowly walked towards the ice.
Leilani looked around as Sidney stepped onto the ice, he took off the red plastic skate guards "put your foot up" he said, she did what he said and he took the pink guards off "alright come on" he said, she slowly stepped onto the ice and moved to hold the wall, Sidney chuckled. "You gotta let go" he said reaching out his hand, she took it and he slowly pulled her towards him. "Relax, I won't let you fall. Just focus on your balance and slide one foot in front of the other" he said, she did what she was told and within 20 minutes she was skating around like it was natural.
"Gosh how long do you do this for?" She asked, Sidney chuckled
"Everyday, hours at a time"
"We've been here an hour and I'm exhausted" she said, he smiled and grabbed a hockey stick and puck, he bounced the puck on the stick before letting it fall.
"Ready?" He asked, she chuckled and shrugged
"I guess" she said with a smile, Sidney handed her the other stick and passed her the puck.
After a few more hours they stepped off the ice and sat down on the bench.
"I think that was the most fun I've had playing hockey in awhile" he said, she smiled and looked at her skates.
"I had a lot of fun, thank you" she said, he smiled and took in a deep breath
"Ready for lunch?" He asked she nodded and stood up when he did. They walked back to the locker room to change back into their shoes
"Cap what's up man?" Kris asked, Sidney smiled and shook his head
"Not much, umm Kris this is Leilani, Mario's niece from Hawaii, Leilani this is my teammate Kris Letang" Sidney said
"Nice to meet you" Kris said sticking out his hand, she smiled and took it

"What are you 2 doing today?" Kris asked sitting by his locker
"Went skating and played some hockey" Sidney said "what are you doing?"
"Catherine is meeting me here with Alex, were going to take him skating as well" Kris said tying his skates, Sidney placed his in his locker, as Leilani placed hers back into the box
"Dadddyyyyy" they heard, Kris smiled and picked Alex up, the small boy threw his arms around Kris before jumping down "siddy" he squealed, Sidney chuckled and picked him up. Leilani smiled and swallowed really hard, it was the cutest thing ever.
"Alex this is Leilani"
"Lee luh"
"Lay Lah Knee" Sidney pronounced, Alex giggled
"Hi" Leilani said, Alex blushed and burried his head in Sidney's neck, sidney rubbed his back and smiled at Leilani
