Sequel: Hear Your Heart

Run Away With My Heart

56: I Thought She Was

“Are you seriously still moping?” Sergio teased as he moved to place another bottle of beer into Iker’s hand. It had only been a couple of days, Iker had seen and spoke to Olivia every day that they had been apart, but still the keeper moped around a little, something Sergio couldn’t help but find a little adorable. He’d always known that they were good for each other, Olivia and Iker were simply far too close to even consider remaining friends, and Sergio was glad that things were working out so well for them. They were already engaged and the defender was pretty sure that it wouldn’t be long before the pitter-patter of little feet was heard, an idea which he could already tell Iker would adore.

Iker, who had been staring at his phone, sighed. “I am not moping” he commented “I just miss her is all. I kind of got used to having her within arm’s reach if I needed her and it is a little odd not having her here” he explained. He knew just how mushy it was, too mushy if he was being honest, but he couldn’t not miss Olivia when she wasn’t around. For a large part of their relationship, they had been attached at the hip and he couldn’t quite get comfortable knowing that he wasn’t close to her. He couldn’t get used to the idea of her being by herself.

Sergio shook his head. “I cannot believe how well it has worked out for you two” he mused, sitting on the chair which stood beside Iker’s “You’ve barely been together a year and already you’re planning to get married. It can only be a matter of time before a little baby Casillas appears on the scene” he mused. Iker stifled the grin that itched to grow on his face, and merely spared a polite nod, agreeing with his friend. He knew that Olivia wanted to keep it under wraps until she had seen a doctor and Iker didn’t want to upset her. Their relationship and engagement had gotten out too early for their liking and Iker was more determined to keep Olivia’s pregnancy a secret until she had informed him that she was ready for people to know. He wanted her to see people’s reactions as well as him.

“Iker?”

The keeper blinked slightly and turned to Sergio who was motioning to his phone which he had set on the table. “I’ll leave you to it” Sergio grinned before he padded across the lawn, greeting his girlfriend and his son. Iker watched after his friend, making a note of how happy he looked, before he turned to his phone, frowning slightly as Sara’s name appeared on the screen. Shaking his head, he unlocked the phone and frowned at the images which filled the screen. They were subtle, nothing was overtly wrong in any of them, but still it made Iker’s blood boil. Olivia was smiling, she was giggling and grinning, and Iker couldn’t help but hate them. Olivia was sat with another man and that fact that Iker didn’t know him only served to make things worse. “Puta” he cursed.

“Iker?” Sergio posed, “Hombre, what is the matter?” he noted, skittering towards the keeper.

Iker shook his head and jutted the phone out to the defender. “Look for yourself” he snapped.

Sergio frowned and flicked through the images. “Iker, there is nothing in these images to suggest that Oli has done anything wrong” he noted.

Iker scoffed. “They don’t look flirty to you? Olivia doesn’t look like she is giggling or smiling at that guy?” he snapped.

Sergio shrugged. “It’s possible…”

“She knows him” Iker interjected “I know that smile, Sergio, I know her, and that is not innocent” he rambled.

“Iker, perhaps you should take a second to calm down” the defender commented “You’re not being rational” he added.

Iker shook his head. “She’s hiding something from me” he murmured, his dark eyes angrily scanning the screen.

“Perhaps you should talk to her first” Sergio suggested “There’s probably a reasonable explanation” he mused, hoping he could get through to the keeper. He knew how Iker could be, there were moments where his temper and emotions tended to get the better of him, but he didn’t want him to lose Olivia because of it. The brunette was not the type to cheat, she was probably the furthest thing from the type to cheat, and Sergio didn’t want Iker to lose her on the basis of a few ambiguous pictures that could have easily been explained away. Iker listened to the defender for a second before he sighed. “What if there isn’t?” he murmured.

“Huh?” Sergio quipped.

“What if there is no reasonable explanation?” he posed gently “What if Oli is cheating?”

“Iker, she probably isn’t” Sergio replied.

“But she could be” Iker fought back “And then how stupid would I look?” he added.

“Iker” Sergio noted firmly “Go home, call her and let her explain. There’s probably nothing wrong and your mind is probably interpreting these images wrong. Talk to her Iker, please, before you do something you’d regret” he noted.

Iker blinked a little and nodded his head, moving to collect his things before he made his way towards his car.

“Hola, you’ve reached Olivia Garcia’s mobile. I cannot take your call right now, but leave a message and I will get back to you”

Iker groaned as her phone went to voicemail again. He’d been trying for hours, he wanted the chance to talk to her, but clearly she was busy with other things, things which in Iker’s mind included the handsome blonde man who had been with her in the photographs. He knew he should have been calmer, he’d known Olivia for years and knew better than anyone that she wasn’t a cheat, but still he couldn’t shake the notion. She hadn’t fought to keep him around, she had been secretive with her pregnancy and Iker couldn’t think straight. Every thought he had, seemed to only make things worse and with Olivia not answering the phone, Iker was almost convinced. Shaking his head, he dialed the number again only to be greeted by the same voicemail message, something which caused him to fling the sleek device into the passenger seat before he started the engine, knowing he needed out of his head for a little while.

Sighing a little, Iker rested his head against the bar, trying once more to convince himself that the images were innocent. It had been hours, three or four since he had been sent them, but still he was having trouble understanding. If nothing was wrong, Olivia would have answered the phone and the matter would have been dealt with, something it wasn’t.

“Are you OK?”

Iker flinched a little at the sound of the unfamiliar voice and sat up, his brown eyes landing on the blonde girl who sat beside him, offering him a tender smile. “You look like you could use this” she added, placing another bottle down ahead of him. Iker grumbled a gruff thanks before he sipped it, his brown eyes studying the pretty girl. “Trouble at home?” she mused.

“Something like that” Iker mumbled “My girlfriend’s not picking up her phone and I am starting to get angrier” he added.

“She’s probably not worth your time” the blonde girl mused.

“I thought that she was” Iker replied thoughtfully “But now, I am not so sure” he added.

The blonde smiled. “You should forget about her” she mused “If she can’t make the time for you, she’s not worth the hassle” she grinned.

Iker smiled. “Can I know your name?” he posed.

“Delilah” she replied gently “And you?” she posed.

“Iker” he noted.

“Well, Iker, would you like to get out of here?” Delilah grinned, offering her hand out to him.

Iker eyed it warily before he placed his hand in hers, allowing Delilah to help him to his feet. “My place is around the corner” she mused, stepping a little closer to him. Iker thought about back away, but stopped himself, instead offering Delilah a grin which she was quick to cover with a kiss. Iker responded, almost greedily, before he tugged back, offering her a smile that had Delilah leading the way out, completely unaware of the picture that had been caught.
