Little Death

I wanted to thank you. Your abandonment woke me from my fever dream. It forced me to see the truth in its raw, miserable entirety, and even though, like everything else you did, your desertion was largely out of self-interest, I will always be grateful I realized you were never meant to stay.

How could you stay when you were never fully here? One foot was always in the door, but the other one was fixed in permanent hesitation. Hovering. You only came in when it was cold outside, and you rarely took your coat off.
